Hello Mom. Thanks for sharing this scripture with me! I love the Scripture passage out of Proverbs 3:5-6
5. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
I think about how sometimes we don't know the path that He has planned for us, but we need to trust in Him and that His plan will ultimately lead to our best success! It talks about how we need to trust Him and not trust our own carnal thoughts or actions! It then goes on to say that we need to acknowledge Him! Not just trust and then wait, but realize the path He has for us and take the necessary steps to obtain it, only then can we receive all of the blessings that are promised to us! I really love that message!
We have been able to meet with some of our prime investigators and really get the process going which always makes me happy! I'll give you 2 examples from this week where we saw some good success!
1.We were talking with the Treuters and their neighbor Arianna (she is 10) and she has really come to love the gospel! We read with her from the Book of Mormon whenever we can and she loves it!! We had a family night last Monday night after P-day and it went so well. We even got her to bring a friend which was really cool! I hope that soon the family starts to have the same desires that their 10 YEAR OLD Daughter has! It is such a testimony builder to me to see young kids trying to be the best they can and follow Christ! I wish I had been that strong that young! But it has been truly a blessing to see her grow and trying to find the right path in her life and for her family!
2. We went and contacted some people my companion had planned and then we went by the ones I had planned to visit! None of them were home except when we got to the last one! His name is Carl and I have never met him! Elder Toone said he was a lost cause because he just likes talking about the Bible all day, but I thought we should check up on him after 2 months right? So we went by and come to find out...he kicked the girl that he was living with out of the house, he stopped smoking, and he wants a better life for his kids and family! So he has literally made a 180 turn and I think there is great potential! We didn't get to much time to talk with him due to the fact of having something set up later that night, but we shared a video with his kids and a time to return and come talk with him! He voiced the fact that he wants to come closer to God and His son Jesus Christ! It was so cool to see him light up and just really open up to us!
I love you all so much! Thank you for the great examples that you are to me day in and day out! Being a district leader can be hard but ultimately I love it! It is so fun to ensure the success of all the missionaries in my District and show them that I love and care for them just as much as I do for my own personal success! My favorite missionary right now would have to be someone that just got transferred on Thursday! Uncle Deejay knows him from his stake at home, his name is Elder Hulme! He and I connected really well and basically had the same bringing up/opinions on missionary work! I love him and I am sad to see him go! He is going to do great things down in San Antonio! I think my favorite scripture from this past week would have to be in Alma 34:17-28. It talks about how we need to constantly be turned to the Lord and be prayerful in all places! Then it recognizes the fact that if we are not being Christ-like and loving/helping those around us, then our prayers are vain and won't do us any good! We are being hypocrites if we are asking for help, hope, and guidance but not reaching out to those around us who stand in need of these things from us! I loved it because it showed me the kind of person I not only need to be here on the mission, but for the rest of my life!
I love you all so much! Thanks for all you do...continue to be the example that you are for all around you! I love the gospel with all my heart and know that it is true! Have an amazing week! I'm so proud of all of you! Bye!!!
