This week was a bit more relaxed than the last couple. The only
traveling we did was to Villazon for divisions. I went with Elder
Vélez. He is from Santa Cruz and a pretty cool guy. Really smart,
graduated when he was only 16 years old. We had a good day contacting
people and teaching a few lessons. We had one lesson where the spirit
was incredibly strong. The mother didn't really take us too seriously,
but her 18 year old son was almost in tears. We shared the
Restoration of the Gospel with them.
This week we also did exchanges with the other Elders in Tupiza. I
went with Elder Laverde, he is from Colombia and only has 3 weeks in
the mission. I love the new missionaries!!! Their attitude about the work is
always great and it's always fun to see how they work. Elder Laverde
was awesome. Always prepared with a scripture or principle in our
lessons together. And he didn't have a bit of fear to contact poeple at
their doors. Good kid.
WE finally have a ward mission leader!!! That's probably not a really
big deal to everyone at home, but anyone missionary knows that a good
ward mission leader can make all the difference.
It's Christmas time!!! I've seen some families put a couple decorations
up already, but it really isn't much like home. It's a far more humble
Christmas here. This is my last Christmas here!
Lately we have been working with Henry. A boyfriend of one of the
members. Really one of our more interesting investigators. I think he
is mostly investigating for the girl, but hey, we will take anyone who
wants to learn more. He is more interesting because he is one of the
smarter ones that we have taught. He's an architect and he mostly
looks at things in a scientific way. He asked us our position on
creationalism or evolutionalism. Basically for him it is the battle
between believing the knowledge of man or the knowledge of God.
Yesterday we taught about faith, what true faith is. Until now he only
looked at the Book of Mormon as a story. But we have been digging to
pull the spiritual stuff out of him. We explained how faith isn't a
perfect knowledge of all things and how it goes hand in hand with
action. Everything is weighing on the Book of Mormon! To know that it's
true you can't just look at it. You have to read it, ponder it's lessons,
and ask our Heavenly Father if it is true! It's the only way, and I
testify that it works.
The Book of Mormon is True! If you haven't read it yet, do it! It'll
change your life.
I love you all! And wish you a very Merry Christmas Season.
