Week 17

Happy New Year! We're officially in 2017!!! 🎈🎉🎊😊

This week has been "meh". More of an off week if anything. That's not to say it was bad, just not as much got done as we were hoping for. We're thinking New Years played a part in that. Our investigators are doing pretty well, for the most part. I've realized I haven't been talking too much about them, so that's something I'm going to work on doing better. So, with that here it goes. :) This week we had an exchange with our Zone Leaders! Yay! Elder Reeder and Elder Bills are the best! :) However, we're in an English zone, meaning they don't
speak Spanish...and I stayed in the area. It was a little (okay a lot) nerve-racking at the beginning of the day--knowing I was the only one in our companionship who knew how to speak Spanish--but as the day went on I got more comfortable with myself. It's amazing what the Lord
can/does do through His imperfect servants. All we have to do is be willing to change and look for Him to guide us. We ended up finding these two new awesome investigator brothers, named Nikolas and Jorge. It was a handoff lesson from the hermanas, since they couldn't go into the house. So we show up, and since Elder Reeder doesn't speak Spanish, I ended up teaching the entire lesson. We shared with them the restoration of the church, and they understood mostly everything that we talked with them about (a miracle in and of itself :)), and as the lesson went on, the strangest thing happened. I didn't once feel nervous about trying to understand what they were saying, and not once did they ask me a question I couldn't answer. That's not to say that my Spanish was in any means perfect, but I definitely felt like the Lord helps out his missionaries for sure. They then talked with us some more as the lesson went on, and ended up explaining priesthood authority and the need for it to another older guy who lives in the house with them! I sat there for about 10 minutes with my mouth open because they were teaching someone else the exact thing we had been teaching them! They're really amazing, and we have big plans for them this next week!

During this upcoming year, my invitation to you all is to take Elder Bednar's challenge regarding the Book of Mormon. I don't remember where this is found (conference talk, BYU devotional, MTC devotional),
but I encourage you all to find it and take his challenge. He talks about how reading the Book of Mormon with a specific question in mind can help you find the answer. I know that since I have started this challenge about a month ago, that truly the Book of Mormon helps us answer any question of the soul. From first Nephi alone I have found 30+ comments that have indirectly or directly answered my question.

I love you all, and I know this church is True. This is God's Kingdom here on the Earth again, and we have the chance to be apart of it.

Love you all!

Elder Jaret Kehl
