During weekly planning on Thursday I was washing off a whiteboard that had sharpie on it, so I was using bleach to clean it off. After 15 minutes of that not working, I wiped it off and tried using windex with ammonia. Everything was going just fine for around ten more
minutes, and all of a sudden the new elder, Elder Beard, ran into the room and asked me what chemicals I was using. I told him and his eyes got really really wide. He frantically started opening the doors and windows and yelled at us to get out of the apartment. It turns out
that when you use bleach and anything with ammonia, it creates mustard gas. Yeah. 😉 We're not sure how dangerous it was, we were just being cautious just in case. We ended up standing outside in the freezing
cold for about 30 minutes and sort of getting planning done.
It was a great experience for us to laugh off the next day, and don't worry, all is well. This week I've worked a lot on being patient with myself and with my investigators. I've been able to recognize when maybe I haven't been so patient with myself, and I've been able to change my perspective to bring myself back to a missionary mindset.
I've learned that when you have hope combined with patience, an eternal perspective is gained.
My invitation for you all this next week is to practice patience and try gaining an eternal perspective.
