Sixth Area - Keizer, OR

Elder Hunziker

Week 73

Hi everyone! I realize I’m really good at saying every week: “this was a really good week!” so I’m not going to say that this week. It was a week full of adjusting to a new area, new companion, and a new Ward. Honestly, with how much I’ve done any combination of those things, it’s interesting how it still takes time to be able to get into a rhythm.

The Salem 1st Ward is different from my last Ward for sure! There’s more older couples in Salem 1st and less younger families. The members really love the missionaries and they are excited to meet Elder Baugh, the other missionary who was transferred in, and I. The area is a less affluent area of Salem, and technically we cover north Salem and south Keizer, and we actually live in Keizer.

Elder Hunziker is really awesome! He’s from Farmington, Utah, plays golf, and wants to do finance of some kind when he goes home. He and I get along really well! We’ve had some fun experiences this past week already! We’ve focused on finding people to teach through our street contacts, and having served in Salem already for over 4 months, we had some weird contacts! 😂 In addition to our fun times, Elder Hunziker and I went on an exchange with the Spanish Elders, because one is a district leader. So, I should clarify first that I am still serving in an English area. So right now I’m an English missionary. Because Woodburn is in our zone, I’m able to speak Spanish on Exchanges with those elders. That’s what happened on Friday! We went on an exchange with the Spanish elders because one is a district leader. So I went back to Woodburn for the first time since I left a year ago! To make it even better, I was with Elder Davis for the day! My MTC companion and I back together again! We had a blast, and it was amazing to speak Spanish again!

Over all, it’s been a great week! I love it here, and the missionaries, the work, and the Ward are pretty amazing!

I love you all! Have a great week!
