Alrighty! The results are in, and I have decided how I will now be writing my emails.
Will they be long? Will they be short?
Nope!
They'll be lort. Or shong. Take your pick 🤣
Actually, I've developed a NEW, REVOLUTIONARY, COLOR-CODE SYSTEM!
So here it is:
💗 = Developing Relationships
(getting along with people I'm teaching, getting along with other missionaries, etc.)
🧡 = Hard Relationships, Hard Work
(working on getting along, working on keeping up with assignments, etc.)
💛 = Hazardous Material
(dangerous events, chased by dogs, power outages, natural disasters, etc.)
💚 = Funny + Creative!
(raps, Discipleship and Combat, new songs, and also funny stories)
💙 = Spiritual Light!
(inspirations, cool thoughts and feelings, notes from church, all the goodies!)
💜 = Language Up!
(improvements in Spanish, cool things I've learned, Gift of Tongues, etc.)
🤎 = Not Feeling So Good
(This is for when I'm tired, unfocused, or sick.)
🖤 = Rough Feelin's!
(lonely, scared, worried, anxious, etc.)
The way this works is whenever you want to know more about something, simply respond with the date (3/11, 3/14, etc.), your question, and the hearts that apply to your question (💛💙etc.).
This selfsame chart will be at the TOP of EVERY email, but please CHECK it because depending on how often I use each color, I may re-label some of them!
Now, on to the show!
Wednesday the 10th
Today Rasmussen woke me up by calling me! 💗
I got my routine done, wrote my email, did all my laundry and preparation stuff.
I also made a video for my dear friend, Brother Young! 💚💙🖤
I had to do vocab by myself, since Rasmussen was camping with his family (which is cool)
Then Rasmussen got back, and we studied language together before class!
Class was SUPER COOL! We totally rocked it! 💗💙💜
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT: Work together! The gospel blesses individuals and families, BUT the gospel is all about teamwork.
Thursday the 11th
Today I got all my routine done right off the bat! Me and Rasmussen called before class and were able to be all prepared.
In class, we had a simulated lesson with Hermano Castaneda which went super good! 💜💗
Me and Rasmussen got an epic Book of Mormon study in after class, which was epic. 💙💗
We also prepared our lessons for another class, practiced vocab, and talked. 💜💗
Afternoon class was good, but definitely harddd! 🧡🤎
After class I had a Tutoring session with Hermana Moreno, which was productive and good. 💚💙💗
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT: Humility is more than lack of pride. Humility is actively, righteously, honestly abasing yourself.
Friday the 12th (phew, just missed it)
Today I got most of my routine done, which worked out pretty good. 🤎
Class was good, and we had a lot of fun!
Rasmussen was busy, so I made a rap while he was gone 💚
Then we had a workshop, and I talked a lot more which was cool! 💗
Evening class was good as well.
I also met this guy named Elder Johnson, and we are super similar!! 💗💚💙
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT: Work together, succeed forever!
Saturday the 13th
Today I missed my journal writing because I was so exhausted! 🤎
Classes went well, as far as I remember?
I also got to hang out a lot with Elder Johnson, which was super nice! 💚💗
Sunday the 14th
Today I was super tired when I woke up! 🤎
It was also Fast Sunday, which probably contributed.
Church was super nice, though, and I bore my testimony! 💗💙
After church me and the family watched some great church videos! 💙💗
I also got to do a call with the Utah, Orem Mission President, as well as all the new Greenies! 💗🧡💚
Later I did my District FHE call, and it was super fun! 💚💙💗
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT: Forgetting things is part of Satan's tricks. Don't allow life to slip through your fingers.
Monday the 15th
This Daylight Savings thing is wack. I got up so late and tired 🤎
Class was good, but I was definitely very tired and distracted... 🤎
I feel like maybe I've put too much on my plate, and I need to be less busy? 🧡
After class was cool, because Elder Johnson, me, and several other missionaries formed Press Forward Productions! 💗💚
Then me and Elder Rasmussen had a call, studied BoM, D&C 4 in Spanish, and vocab. We also had dinner pre-class. 💗💙💜
Later, we had class with Hermana Moreno, and things were pretty nice!
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT: To be truly humble, you must be truly present.
Tuesday the 16th
I actually DID get my morning routine all done today! Forgot scripture studies, though.
In morning class, I was very distracted again! Also our teacher had no power at the start...🤎💚
After that, I got to have D&C with the BOYS!! Final session went super epic! 💗💚
Once that was done, I helped my Grandma move some boxes and got to have a good talk! 💗
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT: Satan can tempt us with good things to simply keep us from doing better.
Wednesday the 17th
Today has been so much better! Even though I struggled this week, I came out on top, and was able to get lots of things done. I think what's helped me today is having a nice, detailed schedule, and being prayerful and alert. I've also been thinking a lot about humility, and what it means to be truly humble. I'd have to say my favorite spiritual thought from this week was probably "Humility is more than lack of pride. Humility is actively, righteously, honestly abasing yourself." I think that this rings true, especially when you consider that there are many people who are not actively prideful, but still struggle with being humble, as humility is more than the absence of pride.
MY TESTIMONY:
I know that Satan is a sneaky snake! He will often lead us into wrong paths, but sometimes he simply takes us off the right ones. We have to actively live a happy, righteous, and productive life, or we will fall into cycles of laziness, lack of control, and distracted distancing from God and from the gospel. I know that if we will pray to God, and follow His counsel, we will not be led astray. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
