Day 348 01/20/20
We got to the mission office late. We were waiting for the zone leaders to get packed and bring Elder Marquez to the apartment to get the rest of his stuff. Then Elder Olsen and Elder Serr took Elder Marquez and myself. That was the longest most anxiety filled 45 minutes of my mission. After parting with my former companion, the one before Elder Ball and Elder Judd. We got Elder Vento and went back to the apartment. We bought sand paper, and scrapped ever name or drawing off of every wooden piece of furniture. "I am free." - Moses 5:33. It looks like a good transfer is growing.
Day 349 01/21/20
Today we moved the living room apartment around and sadly the arrangement it was in for the past few months is the only way it all fits. But the bed room furniture we moved around.
The rectangle on the right side of the room is a closet. We found a new person to teach and handed out a copy of the Book of Mormon. We had lunch with a member. We had our member lessons fall through but we were able to meet with our ward mission leader and have a mini corolation.
Day 350 01/22/20
Today we fumigated our living room with a can of raid to kill one fruit fly, or anyother insects in the room. We went by a person we are teaching and tried to set up a lesson but we didn't know what our schedule was going to be like so we decided together that we will just call them tomorrow. We did family history for an hour. I reserved a name and then wrote a story for my own history.(feel free to read it. But I might have to die first.) We then planned out some lessons, then taught a member. We had another lesson fall through and they left the best note.
We confirmed the address of a person with interest. We talked to his father briefly, he has a black belt in Jujitsu. We met a member that I hadn't met yet, last name Bean. We biked to another lesson and heard a car crash happen on the freeway. We had our lesson with the person we were teaching's Sister and she was very interested. We referred her to the YSA (Young Single Adult) sister missionaries. We then reported it in area book on the overpass while looking at the crash we heard.
While biking after a megar lunch we found a protein bar and it might as well have been mana from heaven.
We had two members lessons, got a referral and a member came with us to a lesson and we taught most of the Restoration to the original person with interest's husband. We are now teaching him. We sprayed more Rade® in the apartment and killed an earwig, then sprayed more Rade® around the doors in our apartment.
Day 351 01/23/20
Today I learned that God has his hand in our lives and he answered prayers. Today while out street contacting we ran across Ira who we are teaching and we had tried to get in contact with him before but we were unable to. We were able to invite him to church and he said he would make an effort to come. Later in the day we missed the teaching appointment we had with him because he wasn't home and his brother threatened to call the cops on us because we knocked on the door. We had district council and that was an interesting time. Thought the day I was troubled because we had the cops threatened to be called on us for simply not doing anything illegal. Then we got a phone call from the father of the girl we referred to the YSA Sisters. He said that he and his daughters weren't interested and to stop coming by. This led to me being troubled and discouraged. I was troubled about my last companion and all the things I had gone through in that transfer and all the things that had happened that day that were discouraging. I prayed for comfort and for help on making this day good. God answered my prayer as we went and did what we had planned to do. We went to the street we planned to go tracting on and we were meant to be on that street. We met an elderly lady named Aubry. She had ordered her groceries online and the person that delivered them left them on the front step. We knocked on her door and helped take the groceries in and then we taught her a little about the Book of Mormon. We left her with our card. She had a very fluffy yellow cat. Then at the end of the road we met Kevin. We showed up just in time to help him move some paving stones. After we moved the stones he gave us water and we taught him about the Book of Mormon and gave him a copy. We also left him with a card with our number and the time church starts on it. It was one eventful day. Reminded me of a hymn. Be still, my soul: The Lord is on thy side;
With patience bear thy cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In ev’ry change he faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: Thy best, thy heav’nly Friend
Thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
Day 352 01/24/20
We forgot about tasty transfers, so no free breakfast for us. We did weekly planning and then went by some people. We had two lessons. We were able to secure a dinner appointment for tomorrow. We texted a bunch of members for member lessons for tonight. We didn't get a member lesson. We saw a banana tree and Elder Vento has a very reflective jacket.
Day 353 01/25/20
Today we helped a lady move for five hours. It was good. All those times I've played Tetris came in handy. After our lesson for canceled and Armando never got back to us so we went and stopped by him and he said he might come to church. After that we finally had a member say we could come over for a member lesson. We saw a murder of crows in a palm tree.
It was cloudy and 50°F. We had dinner and it was good but not good for me. A burger place called The Habit.is where we went. We went to the member lesson we had and we taught the Restoration.
I know that God has called a prophet for us in our day. The Book of Mormon is proof of this. It is another Testament of Jesus Christ. It was NOT written by Joseph Smith, but by ancient prophets in the Americas. If you read it having a sincere desire to know if it is true and pray with that same sincerity God will tell you that it is true. I promise that as you read the Book of Mormon you will find greater peace in your life and you will be able to overcome the fears and doubts in your life. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Day 354 01/26/20
Armando did not come to church, neither did Ira. We gave a member a blessing. Always a nerve racking experience. We biked up a very steep hill to get to our dinner. We got back to the apartment at 7pm and spent the next few hours texting members trying to get a member lesson for Monday night. We finally got one.
