Elder Roberts

Few days of service

Day 282 11/18/19
Well it's not P-day. (probably should have tacked something on to the last one, explaining why. They moved our preparation day to Thursday, so we can go to the Temple.) We had a zone training while the mission president took us out one by one to be interviewed. We were trained on how to set expectations and how to talk to people on the street. It was good, after words we went and got lunch I got a burger with the impossible burger on it. (basicly what the impossible burger is, is a hamburger pady that is all vegetables. It has no meat in it.) it tasted kind of like meat, but if I focused on the flavor or the texture it was just a off. After that we went to the mission office to get more supplies and to get new brake pads, not that we needed break pads, but so that we would be able to just change the breaks once we need to. The bike shop was closed, so we went to the mission office and got more pamphlets, then went and taught a memeber family the Restoration. They told us not to crash on our way back to the apartment. We almost made it but due to. Some water and a curb, Elder Roberts took a little tumble. He was fine. I like the first vision, it brings the spirit in and you can feel a difference when it is being said. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, and they did in reality speak to him.

Day 283 11/19/19
Well I didn't write this on the 19th so details will be missing. (just wanted you to know that there is more but it's not here) This morning no one was out and about, or home. We went by a man named Dean who we have been trying to go by and have a lesson with for a week now. Long story short they hastily closed the door on us, then we knocked on it again and Dean said it was a bad time. So we continue playing the game of come back later. We taught a man named Randy a bit about the Restoration and gave him a pamphlet about said event. We are meeting again and going to teach an entire lesson with him. Not much else happened. It rained and we rode our bikes in the rain. Thank you Mom for the rain jacket.

Day 284 11/20/19
We did service all day, almost. We helped a man pack up his stuff, we taught him a little about the Restoration and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We gave him a copy of the Book of Mormon and invited him to read it and to pray sincerely to know if it is true. We helped another man load up some furniture and take it to another house and unload it, it was fun he bought us subway. We had two lessons with members today. We knocked a total of one door when we went tracting, it was a long bike ride from one member lesson to where we were going to go tracting, there was a traffic light not working so we had to take a detour out of our area and take the really long way. We talked to a lady named Sue at that one door, she accepted a copy of the Book of Mormon and accepted to read and to pray sincerely and ask God if it was true. She gave us a book and invited us to read it and to text her in 40 days about what we thought about it. We had another member lesson after that. The church is true, Joseph Smith was telling the truth.

Day 285 11/21/19
Today we went to the temple, here are some pictures of the outside.
A member bought some groceries for us, it was great. Then on our way back to apartment I stopped to talk to what I thought was a homeless man. His name is Jayson, we got him a blanket and some food and water and helped his mom find where he was so she could take Jayson home. We gave him a copy of the Book of Mormon and told his mom about getting him involved in the Church's addiction recovery program because Jayson has a problem. In the time after helping Jayson I realized I cared about Jayson and I wanted to help him. It is a stark contrast from the MTC when I didn't care that my companion was sick. It's been 9 months.

Day 286 11/22/19
We helped David move out officially. I got an umbrella and another item that will not be mentioned (a stone dolphin and ant-eater) they are little statues. We moved his stuff to a Shedd behind a massive house.
Here is a truck load of stuff.
We did weekly planning and then went tracting, not much happened. We met a members non member friend. They were nice to us and gave us hot chocolate. I reflect on king Mosiah's words "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." - Mosiah 2:17 How happy I have become.

Day 287 11/23/19
We helped a lady move out of he apartment. We had another group of missionaries there to help us. It was fun. After we went by more people. We set up an appointment for Monday at 2pm. How exciting. We went tracting and we talked to more people than usual for 5pm, no one was immediately interested. We had dinner with the Relief Society president. We shared the Plan of Salvation with them. We lived with God before this life. We are here on earth to show that we will follow God by keeping the Comandments and trying to become like Jesus. After this life we go into the Spirit world and we live in a state of happiness if we lived the gospel and if we were wicked we live in a state of misery. We will be reserected when Jesus comes again to the earth. This means our bodies and our spirits will be reunited and be glorified and immortal, our bodies will be perfect. We will be Judged by how we lived our life and by our hearts (how we felt about doing thing).

Day 288 11/24/19
Well it's the day before I get to drink barium, it's a liquid metal. It tastes bad, so that's why we drink it. Today we had church and it was a very good sacrament meeting. We went by some people, but had little luck. We were able to set up a lesson for Friday afternoon to talk about the Book of Mormon with Peter. We rode our bikes a lot. I know that God loves us and so he sent his first born Son to suffer for our sins so we can return to live with God. I know that Jesus Christ lives and that he paid the price for me, and I know I can be forgiven for my sins.
I finished writing the weekly email and scheduled it to be sent to you, then showered. When I looked at my phone again we had a voice mail add from this part on: Well we got a voicemail at about 10pm we listened to it. It was from a man who we had given a copy of the Book of Mormon. He told us that he had thrown it away and he wanted us to stop coming by, he said some other things that will not be recorded in this record. Now we have two do not contact, red dots in our area.
