Explanation of Subject line: 1. I've noticed that I use the phrase a lot, it basically means for me that I'm generally satisfied with the pace/development/status of my life at the current point I am talking or writing. It doesn't mean life is perfect, but that there really isn't anything to complain about. 2. Coming up with Subject lines takes too long/there isn't really ever one that encompasses everything that happened in the week so yeah.
On Monday we taught Alexander (age 15) again. He is a little hesitant to share his thoughts as his family really likes to jump in and speak for him, but I believe his is learning and listening to what we say. We also ate dinner with their family. The father of the family participates in a motorcycle race around the Isle of Man, so he has some motorcycles he works on in his garage. His showed us one of his "Superbikes", as they are special race motorcycles. It was awesome and definitely a cool experience.
On Thursday we had Splits. Elder Collett who is serving in Romerike (40 minute train ride north of us) came down. He is 6 foot 7 inches, so he is exceptionally tall. One of the things he said he like most about Moss was the fact that he didn't have to crouch inside the apartment. He is from Montana but his Mother is Norwegian
While we were on splits we taught Alexander (Age 31). He is a Norwegian who is Christian and Non-denominational. He is a really friendly guy who just really seems ready for the gospel. He has a lot of great questions that we have the answers to, so I'm excited to teach him again. The only complaint I have is he happens to have the same name as one of the other people we are teaching, so that makes planning for lessons we are going to teach a little more difficult, be we are managing. ;)
Oh yeah, typing that smiley face made me realize how much I use smiley faces now. It's pretty much a rule of thumb that missionaries send a smiley face with their texts. So most likely my emails will be including more and more smileys over time, which I guess isn't necessarily a bad thing but wasn't a change I was planning on while on my mission.
This Sunday we had Gospel principles with a lot of YSA. It was really awesome as we had about a dozen people, and a few of them even brought a non-member friend. It was a different feeling being in a group of people my age who weren't fellow missionaries, but it was just an awesome experience.
Sadly I forgot my camera today, so no pictures this week.
For my Spiritual Thought Alma 26 really jumped out to me. Ammon's testimony and thoughts is just so applicable to me as I know I'm doing much more than I ever could based on my own ability. It's amazing to see how many things fall into place when the Lord is on your side.
12 Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.
16 Therefore, let us glory, yea, we will glory in the Lord; yea, we will rejoice, for our joy is full; yea, we will praise our God forever. Behold, who can glory too much in the Lord? Yea, who can say too much of his great power, and of his mercy, and of his long-suffering towards the children of men? Behold, I say unto you, I cannot say the smallest part which I feel.
35 Now have we not reason to rejoice? Yea, I say unto you, there never were men that had so great reason to rejoice as we, since the world began; yea, and my joy is carried away, even unto boasting in my God; for he has all power, all wisdom, and all understanding; he comprehendeth all things, and he is a merciful Being, even unto salvation, to those who will repent and believe on his name.
Yep, those scriptures are just so true.
The coming week also has some chaos as we have splits with Fredrikstad and Elder love will be going to a leadership conference, so Tuesday through Thursday I will be with one or Both of the Fredrikstad Elders. I believe that is it.
