I'm officially done with my first transfer. My trainer and I will be staying in Ålesund, and the only change in the district is one of the sisters is headed to Oslo. I'm excited for this next transfer because we have had a lot of positive responses from people we've been trying to get in contact with for a while.
Well, the biggest thing this week was Stig's baptism! He was one of the sister's investigators, but my companion and I have been spending quite a bit a time getting to know him. He had been an investigator for about a year and coming diligently to church for at least a couple months, I'm not sure exactly when he started coming but he's been here every week I have so far. His actual baptism was a very different experience. We rented out a pool and had to drive to it with stig and all four missionaries in our tiny car. It was a tight experience. At the baptism it was only the missionaries Stig and a member from Stavanger as the Branch President was out of town. My companion performed the baptism.
Stig is a pretty awesome guy, we've met with him a few times to help integrate him into the branch. He's shown a little of his music, including Christian Heavy Metal. That was a pretty crazy experience. I personally don't have a taste for that genre, but it was cool to see something different.
Some of the other people we met with again this week was Ståle and Emil, a father and son. Ståle was effectively a member for a while a few years back but was never baptized. It's amazing to teach them. We had planned to just teach on Christ and his gospel, but then Ståle mentioned general conference. He talked about how great it was to hear some of conference so we listened to a talk and discussed it. We actually weren't able to extend any commitments because they would extend commitments themselves. Ståle committed Emil to looking up and reading some conference talks while Emil committed Ståle to put aside whatever problems had caused him to stop attending and to come to church with him on Sunday. I'm really excited to see how they develop.
We also have 3 meetings this week with less-actives that we have been trying to get in contact with since week 1. Usually during weekly planning we would give them a call, and they would say they were busy for the week or that they would call us back. This week however, 2 of them set up a time and the other one said he would call back the next day, and then actually called us to set up a time.
We also had district meeting in person with the Kristiansund elders due to them still not having a working phone. We met up in Molde which is about halfway between our two cities. We also went to a pizza buffet with them. We went absolutely crazy with the unlimited food. At first they would only bring one pizza out at a time but by the time we finished they were up to three out at once. It was some good pizza.
I'm not sure what we are doing for Thanksgiving, as it is not a Holiday here. Hopefully I will find some turkey somewhere. I do know that both my companion and I love stuffing so we will be trying to make some this week. Hopefully we are successful with that.
Spiritual thought this week is D&C 50:24 That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.No matter where we are at there is always room for improvement.
