My companion is sick so it will be a shorter email today. I also don't have a SD card adapter and my companion forgot his so pictures will come next week.
First was the travel to Norway. We took frontrunner from provo to Salt lake, and then had a layover in Amsterdam. While I was in the Amsterdam airport I got to try a panini, and for it being the first food I ever had in Europe I was a little disappointed. Other than that nothing really interesting happened on our way to Norway.
Once we got to the Mission home we jumped right in. Our first meal was hot dogs wrapped with potato salad in a tortilla like thing. It was so good. We also had a drink called soft, which is something you just add to water and is also way good. Later that first evening we got our dynes, which are super awesome and soft blankets. That was also when we found out our areas and our trainers. The next morning we had waffles with brown cheese. I am loving all the new food I am having here. We then packed up and went to the airport.
On the way to Ålesund I somehow managed to lose my boarding pass twice. Luckily it was not a big deal and did not cause any problems. While I was waiting for my flight I ran into elder Putt, who was transferring to trondheim. He had ordered a reindeer burger and offered me half of it. I really enjoyed the reindeer and was amazed at how short a time I had been in the country before I got to try it. I then flew to Ålesund and my companion was waiting at the airport.
My companion´s name is Elder Rumsey. He comes from the Rexburg Idaho area and has been serving for about 9 months. He is awesome and has helped me a lot with getting established. We are also whitewashing this area, which means we are both new and don´t have pre-established investigators or really anything. Our phone had no contacts, and we've had to stock up our fridge. Thankfully we have two sisters also serving here in Ålesund with us and they have helped out a ton.
We've only met two of the Members so far, Fred and Aleda. Fred is the branch president and he was so helpful. He gave us basically a debriefing on the area and all the members and what there activity status was. On Saturday we had dinner with Aleda and the sister missionaries here and then went tracting after.
The scripture this week is Moroni 10:4-5
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
I've been working on memorizing it in Norwegian and I think it it important to remember to always ask God when we need help.
I will write a longer email next week but my companion needs to get home and rest as we have splits, district meeting, and some other things coming up in the next few days.
