Los Cabos San Jose, Mexico

Elder Cano

Notes from a phone call

I hope to write down some of the things Jacob tells us when he calls. He called today for the first time since the new directive and talked to us for about 30 minutes.

1-As he stated in his letter he is the District leader in Cabo. He is over Seven elders and two sisters. He has to turn in the numbers every night. He said they send him messages with the numbers. He then may call if he has questions. He said he takes notes on all the investigators slated for baptism. He writes down things they are struggling with. He said this job makes him tired, but he enjoys the contact with the other missionaries.

2- A few months ago, they took all sisters out of his mission that are not Mexican. The American and other nationality sisters went to safer missions in Mexico and to missions in the states.

3- He had to leave one suitcase at the mission home. This is due to the cost of flying with extra luggage. Therefore, he left his blanket and has been cold at night.

4- His companion, Elder Cano had his backpack stolen when he left it outside someone's house. He lost his suit and his camera and a few other things. He will be buying a new suit. Jacob wants to buy him a camera so he can document his mission. He is a new Elder and this is his third transfer.

4- He always emails from the internet cafe. He reported that he can call us every week on google hangouts because he has a washer and does not have to hand wash-which takes up a lot of his pday. I thought of things we take for granted when he said this.

The weather is cooler and dryer and he is really enjoying that. He said, this is why people go on vacation here!
