¡No, no tírelo!
¡Hola todos! ¡Cómo están? ¡Estoy muy bien!
This week was a little slow, but very interesting. We do not teach nearly as much here as we did in Vicuña, so we spend a lot of time contacting and finding people. This can lead to some interesting experiences. Including, but not limited to Bible-bashes (we try to avoid them), surprise lessons, hugs, and thrown books.
I had my first "bible-bash" this week. A man came up to us and asked what was the difference between Jesus Christ and Joseph Smith. He began to ask us a number of questions and challenged us to show him answers in the Bible. He knew a lot about the Church including the Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. I was about to pull out my Bible and show him, but then I decided to just testify about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith being a prophet of God. This led to the Spirit being with us very strongly, but sadly not to him accepting us.
Later that day, we began to talk to one man who asked us what scriptures were of God. We began to talk about the Bible and Book of Mormon and he got really mad. He then took Elder Dyson´s personal Book of Mormon that he uses for study and threw it onto the roof of a nearby house. That led to a heated discussion, but fortunately, nothing happened, and a few days later (Sunday) we saw him again and he apologized and gave Elder Dyson a hug.
Finally, we met a man named Guillermo. He is a nice old man that let us in almost immediately when we knocked on the door. He is 82 years old and a Marine veteran (of Chile of course). He spoke a tiny bit of English and was very excited to hear us speak and listen to the word of God. That was even more special because we had the opportunity to give him a blessing of health. Truly this is a marvelous work. We began to finish the lesson and showed him the Book of Mormon, and he told us that his brother had just recently given one to him. The Lord works in mysterious ways. Truly this is His work and we are directed by Him to help His children. This I know with all my heart.
