Man so this week was pretty great! The new companion is pretty sweet! His name is Elder Bolos and he is from Ogden Utah. He went to Fremont High School and played football, basketball, and ran in track! He’s a really hard worker and we’ve already seen quite a bit of miracles this past week! So let’s get to them!
On Tuesday we had an AWESOME fourth! We did quite a bit of finding that day and found one pretty cool homie named Robert. This man is soooooo freaking ripped! I’m pretty sure he practically lives in the gym or something. But we caught him outside and just chatted. He was pretty down to learn more and we got a return appointment for This upcoming Wednesday! That night there was a HUGE Fourth of July party we went to! It was out in the country on this property that some members from the Little Rock ward own. They actually own a firework stand and the money they make from that goes into bigger and better fireworks for the party! It’s pretty sweet! They also have all kinds of food like ribs, catfish, hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad, and the best homemade ice cream! There were a lot of members there as well so it was good to help Elder Bolos get integrated with the ward! Plus the fireworks show was phenomenal!
On Friday we were just out knocking doors in the TERRIBLE HUMID HEAT. But then we ended up knocking on this really awesome old mans door! We got pretty lucky we even knocked on the door bc after I knocked I looked up on the door frame and there was a freaking red wasp nest right there.... and I don’t mess with those evil things. These bees are the worst kind ever so if I saw them I would not have knocked! But I didn’t so we knocked and then Phil answered the door! Phil is a great guy and had never really talked to the missionaries before. We ended up teaching about the Book of Mormon and he was fascinated by it! He promised us he’d read it and seems sincerely interested!
Saturday was an awesome day! Our zone had one baptism so that’s always great! Good job to the otter creek sisters 👏🏻👏🏻 We then did a little blitz with the Little Rock elders to help them find some people to teach. After that we did some service for a guy named Tim and set up a trampoline. That took forever! Then we got invited to a secret surprise going away party for the Hess’s. They leave back home to Wyoming today. So we got a ride up to the party and low and behold pretty much all of the North Little Rock Ward was there! It was so great! I even saw Michele (my recent convert) at the party! We definitely surprised the Hess’s pretty good! I’m really going to miss them so much... I’ve gotten really close with them and they’ve helped me through some tough times. But they are a fellow Wyomingite so we will definitely cross paths in the future! They told me they will be at my homecoming talk!
On Sunday we had some SWEET miracles happen! So I had the opportunity to speak this Sunday alongside President Hansen. Him and I had the whole meeting. So what they had us do us I taught the doctrine of the Plan of Salvation and President Hansen was going to talk about the blessings that come from doing missionary work! The talks went awesome and then afterwards Brother Backus came up to me and asked if I would confer the Melchizedek Priesthood to him and ordain him to the office of an elder. He is a pretty recent convert and I’ve been trying to see them once a week to get them active again. Well mark has been for about a month Straight now and President Dixon interviewed him and found him worthy of the Melchizedek Priesthood and mark asked me if I’d confer it to him! It was a very spiritual experience for me! Afterwards I was able to show him my line of authority and I will be printing his off for him soon and give it to him!
So after that all happened we showed up late to the class. And President Hansen turns to me and says that he’s got a Golden Referral for us. In the Sunday meeting there was a baby blessing and the father to the baby isn’t a member. Well president Hansen talked to him and committed him to take all 5 discussions and to figure out if it is true. Travis said he would and then president introduced us to him! He is super sweet and his wife is just a rock in the gospel! We have an appointment on Thursday with them! We are so excited!
This week really was just full of so many miracles and it’s been nice to witness and see, the work was slow for a while but it is really starting to pick up now! I hope y’all cherish the gospel in your life and never slip away to inactivity. The number one reason why people go inactive is bc they stop reading their Book of Mormon and saying their prayers. Strive to always do those little things bc little things lead to big things!
