No official letter this week from Elder Taylor....just several updates from the mission office and the Elders themselves as Dorian (originally) threatened make a direct hit!
Elder Taylor and his companion spent most of Thursday through Saturday helping those around them prepare for the hurricane. They have become professional window board installers, and even waited an hour for a tank of gas!
After a mission and family wide fast , Dorian shifted its course overnight Friday, and it seemed southeast Florida would be spared such a dramatic, damaging hit from the now CAT 5 monster. Saturday night, the path veered back a little more west, which meant Jupiter would be under tropical storm watch. To take extra precautions to keep our missionaries safe, a few zones, including Jack's, were evacuated Sunday evening. They gathered up their 72 hr kits and drove south to Fort Lauderdale, where several missionaries were being housed in various chapels. Let's just say it was one big missionary sleepover! They hung out and enjoyed spending time playing basketball, cards, and fishing in the canal behind the church. They were fed very well by the senior missionary couples assigned to hunker down with them in the church for a few days. Rough "evacuation" life huh?!
Dorian couldn't seem to make up it's mind, but as of Tuesday evening it seemed all would be well and the missionaries were sent back to their respective areas. Grateful for everyone's safety!
