We had a really good week to finish off transfers here in Chuska Mountain. Thanksgiving was a blast and the baptism for the Bitsoi family was a success! We also had transfer news and it turns out...I'm leaving Chuska mountain! I've loved this area so much and I met so many great people. The branch here is filled with so many fantastic members and I've had an absolute blast serving here and making new friends! I'll be going to Crystal, it's just over the mountain from where I live now and it is super green. I have some pretty good companions so I'm looking forward to it, Elder Smith, my current companion, is even going to be in my district which is insane! Also turns out I'm going to be a district leader! Basically I watch out for 2 other areas, Lukachukai and Sawmill, and make sure they're doing okay and doing their job lol. So much responsibility😩 (Alternate title: take this L, this DL).
Not much happened during the week except for Thanksgiving! We were invited to two different dinners (I know, it's super surprising for the rez and we were shocked too), so we went to the Yazzie family, our 1st Counselor in the branch, for lunch and that was so much fun and they are really good chefs! We helped chop some woods to burn some calories afterward which we definitely needed. I love the Yazzies and they're such great people, they have such a strong testimony in the church and care for everyone so deeply! Then we went to Juan's house, a friend we've been meeting with for the past couple of months. He is such a sweet dude, it was only us 3 and him and he decided to make a whole Thanksgiving meal for us all by himself and it was his first time! Literally almost made me cry, it did make Elder Smith cry though.😂
Then on Saturday we had the baptism for the Bitsoi family! It was a lot smaller than other baptisms but it was still such a blessing to be able to be a part of it. Their family is so nice and have grown so much since we've been meeting with them. It's families like them that make the mission so worth it. They're solid and have become so much happier since diving into the gospel of Jesus Christ and reading the Book of Mormon! I'm sad to leave them and all the other people in the branch but I'm so grateful for the chance to have met them all, I've learned so much from each of them and I'm happy to call them my friends.
Well that about sums up my week. I hope that y'all are still going strong and keep doing your good works! I love hearing from y'all and I can't believe it's December already! Now we gotta get #lighttheworld moving so let's get it! Have a good one and get working on that calendar!
