Week 28 Raise the Bar

Hey everyone!

This week flew by super quick, so I'll just get straight to it. We had lots of teaching appointments this week, and some of the best ones and some of the most interesting ones I've ever had. Wackadoodle stuff.

The highlight of the week was zone conference. This zone conference was definitely the best one I've had so far. In the TKM, the Know, Feel, Do pattern is something President Pickett has been trying to instill in all of the missionaries. All of our favorite examples in the scriptures - Ammon, Amulek, King Benjamin, Captain Moroni, Helaman, etc. - they are all know, feel, do disciples of Jesus Christ. They prayed mightily to know, received an answer or a prompting, and then they went and did it. There was no hesitation, no second guessing, no doubts.
I had to give a training during zone conference, and I asked a question given by L. Tom Perry to his son, who was a star high jumper in track and field. His son was out practicing in the backyard, but kept the bar at the same height and cleared it every time. He asked his son, "If you don't raise the bar, how will you ever know your potential?" How true Elder Perry's words are. We have a bar to raise while in this life, but its awesome because we can't raise it alone. We have someone raising it with us...Jesus Christ.

One of my favorite D&C verses are these:

D&C 58: 26-28
26 For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward.

27 Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;

28 For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward.

God wants to make of us true disciples, who are not compelled to do everything, but to follow His Son because they want to, because they love Him. We can raise the bar and Christ will raise it with us, and we will grow brighter and brighter until that perfect day. Never forget who is with you along the way!

Love you all and have a great week!

-Elder Jorgensen
