Week 21 El día de acción de gracias

Hey everyone! It was a great week, honestly flew by so fast I can't remember a lot of it. We had some great new people we found tracting with a lot of potential moving forwards and our good Jamaican sisters are so close to baptism. They know the church is true, and we're so excited for them! We also got to go out to Black Mountain this Saturday, which is a small town east of Asheville in our area that missionaries dont usually hit, cause bikes ya know and its far away. We took a bus out there (only 4 buses go out there all day, so if you miss them youre not going out there haha). I was able to speak to 3 Hispanic families and bare my testimony to them! I am beginning more to realize that when you trust in the Lord to put people in your path...the faith to find...then he will prepare those people you are meant to find.
I want to share an experience that I had out there. It was pouring rain and Elder Neville and I were soaked to the bone, it was already dark outside and we were tracting by the lights of peoples houses. We came across this one house, and decided to knock. A family opened up and invited us inside, which we graciously accepted (and gave us a few towels to dry off). We ended up sitting down with their entire family and sharing the message of the Restoration. During our message, I noticed the mother smirking at us and then afterwards, told us how much she has researched secondhand accounts of Joseph Smith, the Church, and that he couldn't be a prophet of God. We simply bore pure testimony that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, which means he has now called a modern day prophet. Even after all of this, the mother simply laughed and told us how we were indoctrinated. Needless to say, she said a lot of other things that really upset me...to which she noticed, that my facial expressions were starting to show my sadness, and said, "you look depressed. Are you okay?" I simply told her, "I just know that this message is true and how much it could bless you and your family, thats all."

As a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I want all of you to know that the message of the Restoration is true. Some people are hard-pressed to believe in gold plates, in visions, in latter-day prophets. Yet they believe in that same God who empowered Moses to part the Red Sea, and especially in that same Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ who worked miracles, raised the dead, and rose from the grave? I testify to you that if you simply read the Book of Mormon and you pray sincerely to know if these things are not true, God is going to give you an answer one way or another. That answer is too strong to deny to the humble seeker of truth.
Because of Thanksgiving and everything, I thought I'd share this great scripture:

Alma 34:38
38 That ye contend no more against the Holy Ghost, but that ye receive it, and take upon you the name of Christ; that ye humble yourselves even to the dust, and worship God, in whatsoever place ye may be in, in spirit and in truth; and that ye live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which he doth bestow upon you.

We can always be grateful for the many mercies and blessings that we receive each day. Live in thanksgiving daily! Love you all and have a great week!
