Eastgate Ohio

"Selling Girl Scout Cookies!"

Another amazing week! Elder Edwardson joined the party here in Eastgate!  We have been setting some meaningful goals each morning that have made us stretch a ton.  Last transfer we came to the conclusion that we need to talk to more people. Our area doesn't have a whole lot of neighborhoods, so at times it is hard to find people out and about! The daily contacting goals we would set last transfer were around 8ish.  On Monday we decided to set a goal of 12. Then Tuesday 15, and so on until we set a goal of 25. Each day we have hit our goal or come really close and because our vision was raised we have seen so many miracles.
Funny story: One afternoon we were trying to hit our contacting goal, so we went inspired tracking. We came across a house with 2 Audi's and decided to knock on the door. As we knocked we heard a couple of people inside debating wether to answer it or not. After a couple seconds they answered. It was a really young couple, maybe 21... the guy said hi and we began to introduce ourselves, but we couldn't finish before his wife came bolting into the room saying, "oh man, are you selling girl scout cookies". Elder Edwardson was a little caught off guard, but went with the flow and said, "No we are not, but if you have any would you be willing to share with us? "After a good laugh they told us they weren't interested. We asked them if they drove the 2 Audi's out front and Elder Pickett thought it was a good idea to complement them on their cars by saying, "I love Audi's, my mom drove one back at home." They seemed a little offended by that comment. As we walked past their house about 5 minutes later we noticed they had pulled their Audi's into the garage...
That story would of been a lot  funnier if you were there...

One of the main focuses of the mission has been working with members to find people to teach. We have to find around 500 people through our own efforts to have 1 baptism.  Whereas if a member introduces someone to the Gospel it goes to 1 in 5 people found are baptized! I love bearing my testimony to members about how this is God's work and our contribution to the work is by exercising our faith. 2Nephi 27:23 says, "For behold I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith. "I also love bearing my testimony of the blessings of sharing the gospel.  Preach my Gospel says, "More happiness awaits you than you have ever experienced as you labor among His children" This is certainly true!  Back at home I felt like my happiness was dependent upon whether I had friends or not.  I thought it was dependent upon if I was good at sports or if I hung out with someone every day of the week.  Never did I think I could find happiness in any circumstance I am in! I have realized my happiness is only dependent upon my love for God!
I love this Gospel and I love sharing my love for God with the people here in Ohio. I have never been more happy in my entire life! Hope all is well with everyone! Shoot me an update of what's going on!
