Elder Erickson

"The Huge Crap" @G-Strom

This is what G-Storm calls the group emails... not sure why though!

This was a great week!! So I am just going to jump right into the part that I want to talk to y'all the most!

So Monday I was going through the area book and I usually get distracted and start reading about all these people... I usually don't really realize that they are real people... but anyways, I started reading and I came across this guy named Alex who met with the missionaries like 2 years ago. His Niece is a less active member. I read all the info and I realized that this guy needs to see the missionaries again... so I yelled across the room to Elder Erikson and said "We need to go to Sharonville today!" and He yelled back from across the room, "Okay, why are you yelling." (we were only like a couple feet away) Later that day we were in Sharonville and we knocked on the guys door... on the door was a bunch of hearts that said Sister Fultz and Sister Johnson (the two missionaries that taught him last) Elder Erikson and I were like okay this is crazy... cuz they probably had been up for like 2 years! We knocked on the door and a little kid answered and said that Alex wasn't home... we were bummed out... the next day I was on exchange with the zone leader. Elder Erikson was on an exchange in our area... they decided to go back to the same area and they ran into Alex. They started talking to him and realized he needs the Gospel more than we thought. His wife had died a year earlier and he is out of work and really struggling. Elder Erikson set up a lesson for the next day. When I heard about this I was so pumped... we went to his house and taught him the Plan of Salvation. It was a an awesome lesson...He talked a lot about his childhood and how it was super rough (he is from the Marshal Islands) It was an awesome lesson! By the end of the lesson we both felt like we should extend an invantation for baptism... so we did and he said that when he finds out it is true he will be baptized!

This Saturday was a social media split... AKA... we take a bunch of pictures with members and then they post them using the hashtags #ShareGoodness #MontyMissionaries and other ones that I don't remember. It was a super busy day but really fun! We made a video with our ward missionaries kids and then took a picture with some chickens, then did some service. It was a fun day.

On the exchange I learned a ton from Elder Kesler... He has been out for about a year and a half so he really knows what he is doing. He taught me the importance of being yourself and and teaching with confidence... and I really needed that cuz after the exchange I found out that Elder Erikson had lost his voice, so I had to teach about 75% of all the lessons! it was so scary but it was awesome!! I learned so much!

I hope Y'all are doing great... shoot me an email telling me how you are doing. I might not email back but I will read them!!

I know that my Redeemer lives. Oh what great this sentence is. I love reading about Him and teaching his Gospel. I know that God loves his children. There is so much evidence of this statement, but the main evidence that really helps me is the Book Of Mormon. I know that the Book Of Mormon is the word of God and God gave us prophets in those times as well as in these times because he loves us and wants the best for us... I can't imagine how sad it makes him when he sees one of his children go through something hard or chooses to not follow him, but I also know that God gives us agency because he loves us... Think of a time in your life when you felt like you were forced to do something... How was your attitude while doing it? Not to good right? God let's us choose cuz he wants us to be happy. He knows what will bring the most happiness but (following him) but He also knows that it will be 100x better if we follow him because we choose to follow him. If that makes sense at all... If it doesn't then
just remember God Loves You!

Hope to hear from all of you! :)
