The Spirit Speaks all Languages

Such a great week!I love how each day I can notice Gods hand in my life!

On Friday we had the opportunity to go over and teach Sister Bumgarners (the Daughters) friend at their house.  I talked a little bit about the Bumgarners last week, but for those of you who don't remember, they are a family that are very engaged in sharing the gospel.  Sister Bumgarner doesn't speak a whole lot of english, but wanted to share the gospel with her boyfriend who is an atheist. My companion and I had planned on letting him start off by asking questions and then teaching a little bit about God and how to gain a relationship with him. The first question he asked was so deep!  I was very confused because how could someone not believe in God, but then come up with a question like that.  We quickly realized that in order to answer any of his questions we needed to teach about the Plan of Salvation and then invite him to pray about what was being taught. Part way through the lesson he said, "This sounds great and all, but how do I know if this is true!  Especially since I don't believe in God!"  We told him about prayer and then I had a feeling to ask Sister Bumgarner if she could bare her testimony about God.  I was as little hesitant about asking her because I wasn't sure if she understood what was going on, but she understood completely.  She started out by saying, "I don't know anything about what's being said, but I do know that God is with us right now.  I can feel Him and I know He is real!" Just that statement turned the whole lesson around! Even though Sister Bumgarner doesn't know english, God knows her and her boyfriend.  He knows exactly what they need and when they need it.  What Sister Bumgarner said helped her Boyfriend recognize how the spirit feels.

On Saturday we had the opportunity to go to the temple to do baptisms with the Altenbergers (Jared Altenberger is a Recent Convert).  Jared and his wife Bethany are deaf so I wasn't sure how much they were going to understand while they were in the temple, but again, the spirit speaks all languages.  Jared was able to baptize his wife and daughter and after he did that he came up to me and in sign language said, "I feel so good.  My heart is beating super fast!"

I know that God is there.  He watches out for us and understands us completely.  He has given us the Holy Ghost to testify of truth and comfort us in times of need.  I am grateful for this gift and knowledge!  I know that prayer is a way to directly communicate to God and I know that He answers back!

Love you all
