Man, I enjoy life

Well to start out I just want to say welcome to the world "Cinci-Nasty Jethro Johnson" No my mom did not have another child, but the horse did!

My heart is full because of all the miracles we saw this week. I know God Cares about us and wants the best for us. Now with that being said it was a tough week full of plenty of rejection.

Wednesday we had zone conference where we talked a lot about having the spirit with us in every aspect of the work. We also talked a lot about engaging members in the work of finding. Which that topic hit me like a knife, because I have been trying to do everything on my own with no help at all from anyone or anything. After Zone Conference I decided I needed to put this work back in God's hands. We had been struggling all week getting into lessons.

The next day Elder Millett and I did a whole lot of planning on what we should do to get the members more involved. We had a setup lesson that night with a guy named Tran. Normally in the past I wouldn't of brought anyone to the lesson, but I felt like we really needed to. Good thing we did!!

We went to the lesson and the guy had no Christian background at all! He has talked to the Jehovah Witnesses in the past but was still really confused. We planned on teaching about Jesus Christ and who he is, but that was even to complex for him. That is when the member really helped out. He bore a strong testimony about God and his love for us. Which really got Tran to open up.

Part way through the lesson Tran got up and left for a second, so his wife decided to ask a couple questions. The first questions almost made me want to jump out of my chair. She asked, "Where do people go that have never heard of Jesus Christ." We explained the spirit world and she loved it! (She used to be Catholic).

This week we were able to teach the girl that reached out to us over facebook at her friends house, who is a less active member. We taught a couple points of the Restoration and then she had to go. We decided to stay and talk to the Less active member. I am almost 100% positive that's why we were there. This lady has had a hard time in her life and wants to get back to church but is afraid that people will judge her. We bore our testimonies and she opened up to us. The Spirit did everything else. By the end of the lesson she had committed herself to come to church. Her, her family, and her friend all came to church and had an amazing time!!

I had the opportunity to speak in church this week. I spoke about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. This subject is so near and dear to my heart, not only because the impact it has had on my life but also because it was my farewell topic. I spoke for a solid 7 minutes, but I was on the stand for 10. The reason being was I couldn't say anything with out getting stuffed up... before my mission I used to ask myself if I had feelings because I didn't express myself very much, but now I know I definitely do.

Alma 7:11-12 "And he shall go forth suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and sicknesses of his people.

And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities."

The Atonement is real, but its personal too. I cannot go a single day without relying on the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for his atoning sacrifice for me. He knows us personally and all we need to do is get to know him and he will help you gain peace in your life again.

I know this to be true!

Love you all!

Elder Johnson
