Study it out in your mind

Let's get right into it.

So about a year ago President Welch asked all the missionaries to memorize over 50 scriptures, all the chapter headings in Preach My Gospel, 2 songs, 3 short lesson plans, The Living Christ, and a few other stuff. I remember first coming
into the mission and being completely overwhelmed and not willing to do this. I soon repented of that attitude (after a couple months...) and began the long torturous journey to memorizing all of these things.

If you were ever in any of my study groups back at home, you would know how terrible I am at memorizing, but I can truly testify that God has strengthened me to be able to take on this task. I finished all of the scriptures this week and
am now working on The Living Christ. There is no way I could get this far without Him!

This week I had so many amazing opportunities to use some of the things I have memorized. We met a lot of people on the street that were confused about our religion and the things we believe.

Yesterday while out with a priest age young man was when I noticed the Lord filling my mouth with words to say. The young man expressed legitimate concern about his testimony. He has had many experiences in the past where he has felt
the spirit testify to him that there is a God, but for some reason he still has a hard time. By the end of the talk he asked us about our experiences with finding God. We told him and bore testimony of his divinity, but it seemed as though he was still not
convinced. That is when he asked for advice on what he can do to "know God exists" The second he asked for advice the scripture from Doctrine and Covenants 8 was put into my mind. 2 "Yea, behold I will tell you in your mind and in your heart, by the Holy
Ghost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in your heart."

Then after I recited that scripture another scripture came to my mind from Jacob 4 14 "... Wherefore because of their blindness, which blindness came by looking beyond the mark..."

We ultimately advised him to consistently read from the scriptures and pay attention the feelings and impressions he receives as he does.

After the conversation he seemed excited to test it out. Elder Jones and I were in awe struck and we both felt the spirit testify to this young man.

Doctrine and Covenants 9 verse 8 tells us, "But, behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind: then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore you
shall feel that it is right."

As I have studied it out in my mind I have felt that it is right. When I have memorized these scriptures I have seen God bring them to my remembrance in the very hour I need them! (D&C 100:6) I know that the Lord is my strength. I have
been able to rejoice and sing songs of redeeming love as I have served Him!

Keep being consistant in the small things and you will see great things brought to pass!

Love you all!
