Alright, I think its about time I right a good weekly email. My mom's been chastising me for weeks to do it and I'm also stuck in my apartment because when Texas freezes, everything gets shut down. This was a great week. We are teaching some very promising people. We had this lesson with this lady named Therese. We met with her by ourselves over video call the first time, and it turned out to be one of the more bad lessons I've taught. She and her husband talked for 20 min about a bunch of random stuff, and the first gospel related thing talked about was this question from Therese "What ever happened to this gold plates and why are they still not here?". The story of Moroni and the Book of Mormon sounded far fetched to her so we taught a little of the Restoration, but she got a little defensive and wasn't very convinced. Then we met with her again at the home of the members that referred her. Wow, that lesson was powerful. She started off defensive, but as we taught the Restoration of Christ's church in its fullness, you could see her heart soften and the light in her eyes. The Spirit had settled in to the room and it was so powerful. Between the testimony of the members and the truthfulness of what we taught, she promised to read the Book of Mormon and sincerely pray of the truthfulness. That was one of the most powerful lessons I've been a part of and far made up for the last one.
We are teaching another guy named Franco who loves the ideas of The Church, but is waiting for an answer on the Book of Mormon before we put him on date for baptism.
Marty is awesome as well. She has been taking missionary lessons for years without much progression, but the last lesson we had with her was really something. Wed helped her set up a Family History account the day before. We retaught the Plan of Salvation and emphasized family. She didnt remember it from the first time missionaries taught her so it was actually like she was hearing it for the first time. Instead of her eyes half on the TV like they usually are, we had her full focus. I don't know what got into me and my companion, but we put on our bold socks and as directly as it gets invited her to read and pray about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith with real intent and then asked her if she got her answer if she'd be baptized. The Spirit was super strong and she said if she gets her answer, she'll be baptized!
Lastly, its 7° in Texas with a few inches of snow on the ground. Its record breaking snow and record breaking car accidents.
Man, writing these big weekly's is really a commitment. All in all things are going well. This Church is true. It is the church that Christ established while on earth. It is the way that Christ has given to us to best follow Him and have joy in this life and the eternity to come!Love you all! Tell me how you're doing. What's going on with your life?
