First week with Elder DJ!
Hey Family,
First I want to say congratulations to Alex and Aubrey on their engagement. And I also want to wish ADDY DAVIS HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
So, my week wasn't that exciting overall. I was in a trio till Thursday. So, my first full day with Elder Djamoen was Friday, and it was awesome. It is awesome having a native companion, he helps me out a lot with the language and grammar and culture.
So, a few miracles from this week. #1 Elder Djamoen and I did something called Inspired finding, where we chose this neighborhood, chose 10 streets in it as a companionship after praying, and then prayed individually about the 10 streets, chose 5 personally, and compared out lists. Let me tell you, it's crazy how God works, because 3 of our streets were the same. We only had time to try one street of the one we chose, because of the rain, as well as it was pretty far away to bike to. But, the one street we went to, we got an awesome new investigator named Ibu Lala, she was a muslim, but then she became a christian, but right now she still isn't sure if she is 100% christian. So, hopefully we can bring her the truth and happiness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Miracle #2, Pak Yohan and our other investigator Bro. William came to church. I was so happy that they came. I hope we can help them prepare for baptism on Dec. 2. I know you are all rooting for them, back home, so thank you so much for all your support.
I hope you all know I love you all lots. I am grateful for all the support I receive. I hope I can hear from more of you next week. I am great here in Bandung. Loving life, loving the rain. Loving everything there is to enjoy here. I have a lot of super close friends here, and a possible business partner for a "Sate" store back home. HAHA. That is it for now from the mountains of Bandung. I love you all.
Love you ALL,
Elder Hunter Karr
**Elder Karr gave me a few more details in his email.
Hey mom it is raining super hard and we weren't able to leave the house, rain here is unpredictable plus I was having stomach issues (eek). I threw up for the first time here in indo, I think I got sick off food.... He said "all good, experience for the books" My stomach still hurts a little but I think it'll pass. Elder Dj is awesome. He is a great companion. He is a native from Indonesia and he helps me a lot. The language is coming along, and I am at the point where I can understand a lot I just cant speak a lot. I have been in indo for a little over 2 months, 4 months total, haha and 6 companions, transfers every 6 weeks and this time wont be any different. This is Elder DJ last transfer before he goes home, "figuratively speak in indonesian means to ""kill him" (?) when a missionary goes home after they are finished. That is just what everyone says, like your first city you come to when you come out on your mission is where you are "born" and you last city is the city you "die". Elder DJ is awesome and is helping a lot. I recently had to buy a bike. It is a good bike, it was $220 US dollars, haha, my brain automatically thinks in indonesian money so i had to figure it out in US dollars, hahaI its crazy how our brains work. I love learning, you know me. My favorite food is Sate, its so good. I hope to make in for you when I come home to Utah. Pak Yohan knows how to cook it good and he is my good friend is Pak Yohan and he is great, he will help me make it.
Also, one more things, I ordered a vanilla shake and it ended up being a mocha vanilla shake. We all drank it without knowing.. sheesh I accidentaly drank cofffee this week ... haha! crazy things... I love it here! I also got to try batagor fish and tofu. It was good and covered in a peanut sauce. I am still loving almonds... (you have come to know good food then Hunter! :) ) Also, Mom, I really like this juice it has strawberries and bananas. I am going to try and eat healthy, I lost a little weight and I am trying to eat better so I dont lose. My comp is trying to get to I sent a pic of empty cup, so70Kg and lose and I am trying to get to 70kg. He is so positive and encouraging, Its been awesome. Mom, I have to head out, we have to go. I will have a great week. Keep being awesome, I love you all.***
