Hello everyone! Its been a while, but glad to share what happened this week. The first week of the transfer has become the longest now, with no pday and no district meeting, but its sweet! I'ts a whole week to get work done!
Saturday Oct. 8th- It was Tom's baptism! We were so excited to see Tom enter the waters of baptism! He will be a great asset to this ward and will be a great priesthood holder. He will be an example to his non-member parents as well. I should have already sent pictures home that day. the rest of the day was pday, so we headed to Sturgis and hung out with the Sturgis elders and Three River's sisters'. Elder Grover from Sturgis and Sister Alloy from Three Rivers were getting transferred the following Monday, so we got to say good bye to them.
Sunday Oct. 9th- We had a great fast and testimony meeting. We had visitors from a couple different places that came for the BYU vs. MSU game. It was pretty big I hear, lots of BYU fans. We confirmed Bill and that was awesome! He is so excited to get the priesthood and start helping this ward out!
Monday Oct. 10th- Because we are starting again, we did a lot of door knocking Monday. We were successful in the fact that we talked to a ton of people. Gotta find those solid investigators! We went and gave a couple, Tim and Leann Weller, both a blessing, one was going in for surgery the next day. They hadn't received one before, so that was a cool experience for them as well as us.
Tuesday Oct. 11th- We did some service at the branch county food pantry. Busy day stocking shelves and hauling in orders. We were able to do some finding before our Book of Mormon study group, which is a huge success! We have an average of 7-8 people each week, which is great for this unit.
Wednesday Oct. 12th- We had no district meeting, so after studies we went and began finding. We had a lesson with a couple of our investigators, Tiffany and Kenny. they are great, not super knowledgeable gospel wise, but they understand everything so far.
Thursday Oct. 13th- After driving to Battle Creek to get a couple things done, we went finding. We contacted a couple potentials and less actives and finished off the night with splits. I went with Brother Miller, who is awesome! We got a lot done.
Friday Oct. 14th- We had a really good weekly planning session, got a lot of good ideas and plans set. Went about finding and contacting old contacts, so it was good.
Saturday Oct. 15th- We had 4 lessons planned and only 2 of them went through. Taught a woman who was formerly Muslim, but embraced Catholicism and is looking for truth. Great lesson, she is just not sincerely wanting to know, more of information to her. She is moving to Detroit too, so we invited her to study and contact the missionaries there. Went about finding and we were able to serve an older gentleman and invite him to learn. He declined, but said he would look into it. Cool experience.
Sunday Oct. 16th- I was able to confirm Tom Herman! That was awesome to be a part of. First time confirming someone, so it was a tender experience for me!
The gospel is true, and can bless us, as long as we heed its teachings!
