Service and our Eternal Progression

Hey all!! This week has been another one for the books! Just when I think the mission can't get any more fun, we just get blessings upon blessings and the days just get better and better!
We had a ton of opportunities to serve this week; from helping to move a big couch down a small winding staircase to twisting balloon flowers at a city-sponsored youth event to setting up all the furniture in a home for physically handicapped people, we stayed busy for sure :) I had the opportunity to give a talk on service this Sunday (God blessed us with extra opportunities to serve right when I needed to be studying service, as luck would have it) and it went great. I still get nervous when I give talks, but it always a great opportunity to express my love for the members of the branch and, of course, practice Russian. Heaven knows I need as much of that as I can get!
One of the young women from our branch (Polina) recently invited her friend to start coming to church, and the sisters have started giving her the lessons! Her name is Lera, and she is golden. The sisters say that she has amazing questions and that she is really interested and genuinely seeking. She has a lot of potential, I'll keep you all updated!
Here's something I shared with my family that I found while studying about service, I'm going to just copy/paste it here, because it fits the topic of service :)
In personal study this week, I spent a lot of time preparing for my talk on service and studying service. One really cool insight I had was the connection between Mosiah 2:17 and Mosiah 5:13. 2:17 reads "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." 5:13 reads "13 For how ahttp://classic.scriptures.lds.org/en/mosiah/5/13a">knoweth a man the master whom he has not served, and who is a stranger unto him, and is far from the thoughts and intents of his heart?" I realized that one of our best methods to come to know God and his ways is through service to others. I think I had just thought that the benefits of service ended at the good feelings you felt and the opportunity to help others, but I realized that service is essential to our eternal progression.
Love you all! Thanks for everything!!
