Week 7: New Zone Leaders, More on Russian Laws, and the Tribes of Israel

A lot happened this week but I don't have a ton of time, so I'll try and be quick. We were released as zone leaders on Sunday! It was an awesome opportunity and we enjoyed it a ton. I'll be honest though, we get to watch Music and the Spoken Word instead of going to meetings on Sunday mornings now, so I'm pretty much ecstatic. We're all so music deprived. Once we get in the field we can listen to music every day in our houses... Let's just say I'm pretty pumped to get out in the field.
So we heard a little more about how the new laws are affecting some of the missions in Russia this week! Apparently, some of the missions (We're not sure which, or if it's all of them) have decided to stop letting their missionaries wear white shirts and ties in public. We were a little bummed out when we first heard that, but then we realized that if that's the case then we get to go on a RUSSIAN CLOTHES SHOPPING SPREE and now we're all super excited!! There's an upside to everything and the truth is that the Lord always always finds a way for his work to go forward.
By far the biggest thing that happened this week was that I got to see my grandparents!!! That was amazing. President Clark (our branch president) managed to find a time where they could come in and teach about the Tribes of Israel and how they relate to Russia, which is like their area of expertise, to just our branch. It was amazing and our zone can't stop raving about how cool it was to learn everything they taught us. We're all even more antsy to get out in the field than before, if that was even possible.

In other news, our investigator lessons are going great and we are moving forward in the language slowly but surely. We learn more and more every day, but we've definitely still got a long way to go. It's a ton of fun every single day. though, and I love the language more and more the more I learn of it.
Also! Sort of crazy thing that happened. We walked into our room yesterday and discovered that two Elders going to Japan had moved in with us! Apparently their building is getting deep cleaned and they have to move everyone in their dorm to the other buildings. It was a bit of a surprise, but they are super cool and I think we'll get along really well. Their names are Elder Riggs and Elder Bradford.
I think that's about it for this week! We get our flight plans tomorrow, which I'm SUPER EXCITED for. Also we should be getting our Russian name tags soon!!! We don't know if they'll say "Elder" or "Volunteer" or what, but we're pumped to finally see them. Also just a reminder that since I'll be in Russia soon, any emails that anyone sends to me can't say the word missionary or mention that I'm doing work for the church. I'm just on a volunteer service mission in Russia and that's all.
Thanks for everything! Talk to everyone next week!
