We had a visa trip to Finland this week, which was a great experience! Being able to walk around and openly contact in the Finnish airport was a blast. Also, Finland is GORGEOUS and they have EVERYTHING. So much chocolate and non-Russian candy. I may have over-eaten just a little.
The first half of the week before the visa trip was a little rough; we had a whole lot of cancelled appointments and things that didn't work out. We're also really worried for Hoang and Sho right now; we haven't been able to call through to them or Lam for almost a week now, their phones aren't working and for now we're not allowed to stop by their dorm. Keep them in your prayers, we're hoping there's a legitimate reason and that everything will work out fine, but it's a little stressful in the moment.
On a brighter note, we made some great friends and contacts during the Visa trip. It was a ton of fun, and a great reminder that even if we can't preach, we can still do a lot here in Russia just by opening up our mouths and making friends. We had a great conversation with the driver who took us home from Novosibirsk to Tomsk, and even ended up giving him a Book of Mormon! (I'm not sure if it was 100% legal, we sorta loopholed the law by waiting until he asked us for one to sign our names on :) just don't tell the Russian police and I think we're good, haha).
Sunday was great! We had a really good turnout at church, including Aleksandr. We seem to be back on the upswing and we're excited to ride the momentum with Elders Collins and Spillett! All the priesthood holders in the branch met together during third hour and we basically had an hour long pep-talk on setting and meeting meaningful goals. We set some high goals for things like sacrament attendance, energy was high and I'm really excited to see Tomsk start to take off!
Elders Collins and Spillett are awesome!! We're way excited for the boost here, they definitely are needed. They're both super motivated and are way excited about the work. Also they have incredible Russian already! I'm way blessed, I get to serve with three of the fastest progressing Russian speakers I've seen while I've been out here.
Love you guys so much, thanks for everything!!
