It's so crazy the longer I'm here on my mission the faster these p-days seem to come around. This week has been amazing as per usual. As one would expect in the Philippines it rained for like 4 days straight and there were many days that Elder Rosales and I came home with soaking wet feet, socks, and shoes. Despite all the rain we had a pretty good week working our tails off for the eternal salvation of the people here in the Philippines. We had a fun New Year's Eve. We had dinner, breakfast, and lunch with members which was both awesome and delicious! This week we had some wild problem with our kitchen faucet. We had the landlord bring someone over to fix the faucet (it was broken and water couldn't come out) but i guarantee you the man he brought was not a plumber. Since the facet was super broken he didn't try to fix it rather he took the hose from outside and put it inside through a window next to the sink. It was a super janky fix and while he was testing to see if it worked he ended up accidentally partially flooding our kitchen. We now have a partially working kitchen with a broken refrigerator and a sink that gets its water from a hose outside. Don't think I'm telling you this to complain I actually find it so funny. Life here is SO different compared to America and it just makes me more appreciative of what I have back home. Our investigators are doing ok. We learned some unfortunate news about Jelly. Not only does her mom not want her to get baptised but she will have school, starting this Sunday, from 7am - 3pm so she will have to miss church every week to go to school. Since she isn't able to go to church she won't be able to be baptised. Elder Rosales and I have been fasting and praying for her to be able to come to church but it looks like the decision will be up to her. Of course we will still teach her and visit her but she won't be considered a PBD (person with a baptismal date) because she is unable to go to church. Vicente is doing well but he's having a hard time reading the scriptures by himself, he says it gives him a headache and stresses him out because he doesn't understand it. It's not that he's not interested, he's been reading the gospel principles in english instead and says he understands that better.. kinda weird to me but ok. This week we are going to be focusing on helping him read by reading with him and helping to answer his questions about the Book of Mormon. We also have a very exciting new family we are teaching with the last name Degooseman. Noel (the dad) is extremely interested in our message/lessons and even takes notes about what we teach him! His whole family (a family of 6) is super interested in what we have to share. Yesterday we gave them a Book of Mormon because Noel asked for it (it's only our second lesson) and taught them all about the apostasy, the restoration, and the Book of Mormon. Personally I'm super excited for this family and hopeful that they will be baptized before the end of February, they are just that interested. Sorry a bit of a long letter but this week has been awesome! I'm super excited for the weeks to come and the great opportunities I will have to help others come unto Christ.
