It's crazy that this is already my last email from the MTC. Next Monday morning I leave for Cape Verde. My MTC experience has been very valuable but I'm so ready to get into the field.
This week Elder Ajayi acquired 2 new SYL stickers which bumps him up to 4. SYL stickers are supposed to show what language you're learning so you can talk to others so according to Elder Ajayi's nametag he speaks Portuguese, Thai, Japanese, and Mandarin. Any time we speak to him in Portuguese and he doesn't understand he'll respond "you speak Thai". Or he'll say something in "Thai" and if we don't understand he'll tell us we don't have the gift of hearing. Last night we asked him where they speak Japanese and he responded "that is not expedient for you to know now".
The highlight of this past week was probably our Saturday morning class. Since it was our last day with our teacher Brother Haycock (he's getting transfered), he made the lesson only about our Savior. We went to a hall in one of the buildings here that only has pictures of the Savior and shared which picture was our favorite. Then we all shared scriptures from the Book of Mormon that teach about the character of Christ. I'm so thankful for the powerful witness of Christ in the Book of Mormon.
Helaman 5:12 "And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall." I want to invite yall to ponder how being built upon the rock of our Redeemer has helped you withstand the whirlwinds of this life. I know that the next 2 years will by far be the hardest years of my life so far and that the only way to make it through is to be built upon the rock of my Redeemer. I'm so grateful for my Savior and for His infinite and eternal sacrifice.
Have a good week!
