Dear Brother and Sister Applegate,
At the Woodbridge Zone Conference yesterday, the following announcement was made:
"We have been informed by the First Presidency that the Woodbridge Virginia Stake will become part of the Washington DC South Mission effective July 1, 2016. Therefore, all missionaries currently serving in the Woodbridge Stake will be reassigned to the Washington DC South Mission. Each reassignment has been approved by a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles."
We are pleased to support any request given to us by the First Presidency and/or the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Having said that, this will be a challenge for all of us. It is a challenge to receive a new assignment. It is a challenge to be separated from friends, companions and previous areas. But any challenge brings opportunities. This will provide an opportunity to meet hundreds of new friends, to work in new areas, and to attend the temple more often.
As you are probably aware, Sister Wilson and I are completing our missionary service June 30, 2016. We are so grateful for the opportunity we have had to serve with your son. We have great confidence that they will do well with this new assignment.
Their new mission leadership will be President and Sister David H. Huntsman. The Huntsman’s are just completing their first year of service and are wonderful people. President Huntsman is committed to helping the missionaries make a successful transition. He will be with the Woodbridge Zone at their Zone Meeting Friday July 1, 2016 and will interview each of them Saturday July 2.
It is important for you to be supportive and positive. This will be a challenge, but your support and encouragement will be a great blessing to your missionary. I had the opportunity to meet briefly with each Elder and Sister and their indication was that they are willing and ready to do what the Lord would have them do.
Please know of our deep love and respect for your son. We are grateful for the opportunity we have had to serve with him.
With love and appreciation,
President and Sister Wilson
