Week 13

Hola everyone! It's that time again. I hope you are all doing well. I love hearing from you all! The mission is way fun!

Lunes (Monday): Last Monday was awesome! First, because it was P-day, but main because I was able to go to the temple to receive my endowment. I already talked a little bit about that, but it was way awesome to make further covenants with my Father in Heaven. I also got to see my parents, but it has only been 6 weeks since I last saw them, so I don't miss them very much haha.

Martes (Tuesday): Nothing happened haha. Our areabook is full of "no nos contestó" for pretty much every single door. We did have a party because transfers were on Wednesday and Genaro's birthday was the next Saturday. That was way fun. I learned that my bishop was from Cordoba Argentina, and he said his family said borders will open up in a month. Not getting my hopes too high yet, but that's the word on the street. (Happy birthday Gage!)

Miércoles (Wednesday): Okay, I can talk about transfers more here. It appears Elder Ross and I will be staying here for another 6 weeks, which is awesome. We had some last minute switches on the transfer board, so one of our friends Elder Williamson is leaving, and the STLs' have a new sister as well. The new people are way cool. Also it's nice not having a zone leader as our district leader as well lol.

Jueves (Thursday): Not much happened, but we sent up a few lessons with some people. We have been blessed with a people to teach now, which is way awesome. I actually have to study the lessons harder now because we have people to teach lol. We had like 5 lessons planned for Sunday. So look forward to hearing about those.

Viernes (Friday): So we were helping clean the church in preparation for Sunday, but afterwards Elder Ross was like "We're going to go find some new people to teach by walking." To be honest, I was not too keen on this decision because we have to be kind of careful now about walking up to people and talking to them. We got an email from the Area Presidency about that. So we were walking by this guy's, named "Tony", house (side note: I have an awful memory, but I remember pretty much every person who has open their door and told us their names) and he's just working on his car. We walk up and start talking to him and he just tells us about the mistakes he made in his life and how he wants to change... So we told him about how baptism cleanses us from our sins, and he wants to hear more now lol. So Elder Ross got a gold star for that one.

Sábado (Saturday): The district and Genaro's favorite Elders (and Genaro) went to go eat lunch for his birthday. We went to this Taco truck, and it was way good! I actually had never been to a Taco truck before (at least what I can remember), and everyone was very surprised because you'd think they would be all over the place in Arizona. It also rained on that day while we were eating at the park.

Domingo (Sunday): We had another party for Genaro's birthday lol. I think this is number 4 haha. Everyone in the ward loves him, so they all want to throw him a party. He is the best ward mission leader, so he deserves it. Of the 5 lessons we had planned, none of them went through. Rip. It's okay though, we have several of them moved to next Monday.

Spiritual thingy:
In 2 kings 6:15—17, The king of Syria sends his armies to retrieve Elisha from Dothan. When the servant of Elisha sees that they are surrounded by a "great host" he goes to Elisha and says "Alas, my master! How shall we do?" Elisha says in verse 16, "And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them." Then he prays to the Lord to open the eyes of his servants, and when the servants eyes were opened he saw that the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. We must remember that as children of our God there are legions and legions of Angels here on earth to help us whether we see them or not. When the time comes where hardship hits, remember that if we could only see them, there are Angels standing by us with flaming swords to protect us.
1 Kings 6:16 "And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them."

Funny random junk lol
1. The missionaries talk about getting Genaro married so he isn't a minister Angel for all of eternity. Sadly none of our Key indicators pertain to match making haha.
2. I am so thankful that when we do sustainings everyone raises their hands. I'll just be watching the Bishop or someone on the stand and they put their arms to the square, and I think "Huh.. We're doing this now" lol.
3. Sometimes when I don't know what to eat I sit down in front of the fridge and just look for stuff. My companion thinks I am sitting in the fridge, but our house is cold enough to be a fridge regularly (69°F lol).
4. Elder Bullock says he is my godfather. I don't really know what that means, but sure. He does help me with my Spanish, so that's good enough for me.
5. On Sunday Elder Ross and I were walking home from our area and he was trying to teach me how to rap (at least rhyme). We are preparing to eventually rap battle someone and teach them the first 3 lessons.

Okay, see you all later! I love you all. Also General Conference is coming up, so we're excited for that haha.

Love,
Elder Martineau (Alfaunzo)

Pictures
Picture 1: I found a French Book of Mormon in a closet, so now I have English, Spanish, and French. My collection continues.
Picture 2: I made a Pulpo (octopus) out of paper. He took sometime, but I didn't know he was going to be an octopus until I was half way done, lol.
Picture 3: Us after eating at the park with Genaro.
Picture 4: The sisters like to take a lot of pictures, lol.
Picture 5: One of the wallpapers I made this week.
