Happy New Year!!!! Hows everything back in the States? Cold? I miss the snow....Its so crazy hot here! I am always just soaked with sweat!
This week has been super great....lots of hard work, and super hot, but great! I have started to get to know the members and our area a little bit and I think I am starting to understand what people are saying a little bit! Hooray!
That lady that we taught on Christmas? Dropped us....it was really sad, cause she didnt give us a reason or anything she just sad there werent anytimes when we could return. Bummer...
This week has been a little slow, but we did get a couple new investigators!
Mariela - Single mom with a few kids. We got to only meet with her once, and we didnt get to really teach her anything because she likes to talk....haha...but she has strong beliefs in God and Christ, so hopefully there"s some good potential
Andres - We taught him the first vision, and gave him the baptismal challege for the 25Th! He accepted! He seemed really nice and willing to listen, but I'm not sure how much he really understood...so we will see.
Celea - We just met with her on Sunday, and it was amazing! Before we met with her she was just a potential, but when we showed up to her house she opened the gate and told us to come in ....as if she had been expecting us or as if we had an appointment (which we didn't)....it was amazing. Elder Brough and I were both shocked. We gave her the lesson of the Restoration, and she seemed to understand. We gave her the pamphlet and invted her to pray about our message, and she said she would... This was an amazing lesson. I understood almost EVERYTHING and I had a lot more input than our previous lessons and I was able to answer several of her questions. Really cool! She's really nice, but she has some strong beliefs (like that Christ was not perfect....) and she says that she's not going to change, but we will see about that =)
Christmas! Christmas was awesome - although it really didn't feel like Christmas at All....Really different with all the comotion and fireworks! IT was super crazy!!!! Lots of fireworks and drinking.....It will be interesting to see what new years is like tonight...Good thing we will be indoors. We went to the store today and everyone's carts were full of booze! Its gonna get crazy up in here!
I am loving it here! I absolutely LOVE being a missionary! No, it hasnt been easy. It is extremely hot here...the culture is super different....we have to keep our eyes peeled for dangerous dogs sometimes....I'm always covered in dirt and sweat.....and its super hot here....and sometimes the poeple don't want to listen....and its really hot and humid here......and the work is hard....BUT, I LOVE IT! I love trying to talk to people about the gospel....especially since thats really all I can talk about in Spanish. I love the people! I have begun to get accustomed to the greetings and the way of life, and I love trying to help them. I love the members. I love studying the scriptures. I love just saying hola or buen dia to everyone. I love actually feeling like I am a real representative of our Savior Jesus Christ. Despite the heat, or the lack or sanitation, or the lack of sleep, or the rejection that is sometimes had....I LOVE WHAT I AM DOING! I wouldn't want to be doing anything else.
The church is true! Christ lives! This is His gospel, and I know that it is the most sacred opportunity and privilege to share it with others.
I love you so so so much! Thank you for everything you have done for me to raise me with this knowledge. My gratitude is unimaginable. Thank you for your love and your prayers and your testimony! Where would I be without my angel mother? I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!
