Un Trasferimento e il Sacramento(A transfer and the Sacrament)
Buongiorno i miei amici,
What a historic special week it was. We had the privilege of hearing from our prophet Russell M Nelson about new added revelation on how to organize our church. I have gained a special witness from the spirit that he has really been called of God to lead and guide this church under the direction of the Lord!
On Saturday I received transfer calls and I got news that I will be serving in Bergamo (bit north east of Milan) and I leave on this Thursday at noon to take a couple trains up there. My new companion will be Anziano Simpkins, who has two transfers left so I might be his last companion in the mission. I am so very grateful for all the many lessons and experiences I've had here in Montevarchi along with my two companions, Anziano Johnson and Odeh, with everything they've taught me!!
Here's a pretty fun story:
On Monday we had an appointment with a man in Cortona(which is right on the edge of the border of our mission), i didn't go to the Rome mission if anyone is asking, we always take train that goes to Rome but get off before we enter the Rome mission. After we had gotten to Cortona, the man canceled on us and so we decided to do some finding(knock on doors and talk to people) while we were in the area. We walked up a big hill up to where all the houses were and started to do some contacting. We talked to a bunch of different people.
As we got to the top of the hill, there was a catholic church and we decided to go check it out. Turns out they were actually holding mass and so we sat in for a little to see what they do. We got there just as they started the sacrament, a nun started singing and the Bishop drank the wine representativly for everyone in the room and then a nun and the Bishop walked to the front of the room to administer the bread. All the people in the congregation got in line to partake of the bread and my companion went and got in line so I went too. There were two lines, one to get the bread from the nun and another from the bishop. We were in line to get it from the nun and once it was my companions turn he got the bread and walked off and then the nun gave me the bread(I didn't think it was bread at first because it was in a pre-cut thin circle) and I was about to walk off too but the nun stopped me and had me eat it in front of her. After we walked back to the back of the room and every one else had got theirs, the nun made an announcement in english that you have to eat the bread in front of the person giving it so you can't just walk off back home with the body of Christ. The bishop translated it into Italian for the rest of everyone there. We then took a program they had out on the table for a souvenir and continued on our day.
The reason I am telling that story isn't just to say how me and my companion got told by a nun, but how my testimony has grown in the sacrament. Seeing how they did the sacrament made me think a bunch of why the sacrament is how it is, what it is, and why we do it.
I have a testimony that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the one true Church restored on the earth again! I am grateful for latter-day prophets to lead and guide this church along with the revelation they receive that is specifically meant for us in this time and day. I am so very grateful for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and for providing us with the Atonement so that we can become clean from any sin and guilt!
I know my Savior lives!!!
I hope and pray for the best for all of you. Thank you for all the prayers and thoughts sent my way, I can promise God will bless you tenfold in return!
