Week 74 – Doing a Family Name at the Temple, Feeling the Spirit, and Moving Again
Last Monday, my St. George temple experience was incredible! 1. Because I hadn’t been in a while, 2. I’m at peace with going to BYU-I, and 3. We were in and out in 4 hours! Now that might sound like forever, but the surname Ownsberg is special. I found his record in November of last year, and nothing was done! I was excited, my first baptism for the dead with a family name! Elder Kim was able to find a name too with nothing. So in 4 hours, we both did baptisms, confirmations, initiatories, endowments, and sealing to parents. Pretty amazing. It was crazy, too, because it all just “worked out.” We didn’t check any session times and the temple closes at 1:30 on Monday for cleaning. We weren’t rushed, and we moved right along. We went and did baptisms and confirmations starting about 8:20 and were done in time to do initiatories by 9 and an endowment at 9:20. I know dad’s said it before in one of his letters, but isn’t it funny how everything “works out” in the temple. “What are the odds? In the gospel 100%” (quote from unknown stake president).
I learned in 3 Nephi 7 the age of man is 72. (That’s a good age to die, I guess).
Wednesday was pretty good. We didn’t have any luck finding any new people to teach, but I remember feeling the spirit a lot more than normal. I felt it really strong during both of our lessons and during my studies. I don’t know if it was because I was looking for it more or if it’s because we went to the temple, but it was nice. During our lesson with the twins, I felt it as we taught about tithing and as I shared my personal experience of the blessings of paying tithing first. That was more special because usually it’s harder because they tend to be hyper. The other was while reading from Alma about the Resurrection during our lesson with the Gerberts. I didn’t say anything to bring it into the room and neither did Elder Kim, but it was there.
Our p-day is Tuesday this week. I’m being transferred. On to my 7th area and my 14(-16 depending on who you count) companion. It's in Salina, so back up north before it gets too hot! They're closing this area so we have to get rid of everything! Lots of cleaning!
