Our weekly devotional at the area office this week was on Thursday instead of Wednesday. That’s because we had to special visitors from Salt Lake City and their wives – Elder Mark Pace, general Sunday school president; and Elder Douglas homes, first counselor in the general young men’s presidency.
We got to hear them speak, along with Sister Holmes and also Elder De Hoyos, our area president.
Mom played for the choir which sang an arrangement of “Onward, Christian Soldiers”.
President Pace suggested that wards might consider having more than one Sunday school class for the adults.
President Pace noted that he had learned more about the New Testament by daily following the study hints in “Come, Follow Me” than he has in all the years up to this point.
He brought a wonderful testimony, and also shared some of his parent’s experiences in Argentina.
Elder Pace’s parents came to Argentina with three children, he said, and left with six. Elder Pace was born in Argentina, the people love that he called himself a “Porteño”.
He said that from when he was very young, his mom kept asking him, “Marquito [that’s what she always called him], have you prayed to God and received his assurance that the gospel is true?”
