Transfers, and a recording studio
This week was great! We had transfer calls this week. Me and Elder Kairo are both staying here in Keene. Well technically Cleburne, but we are working with just the Keene branch. I am really excited that we get to keep going through with our plans for our investigators. We are in the process of getting people married! That is the first step for a lot of our investigators in order to make it to baptism, so now we have to become love doctors! Haha missions are not just about teaching!
This week, we helped josh with his garage, and then he showed us around his house. He has a sweet hot tub, a ping pong table, a trampoline, the whole deal. Then the best part was inside his house. He has this awesome recording studio, and he is super good at making music. He did it for a living for a while and now it is just a hobby, but he is still awesome. He had me play one of my songs for him, and he said he is going to make it into a dubstep, which I think is going to be awesome! It was a good time to bond with him, and help him out with his garage. And then he also said if I could play some hymns, he would edit them, and make them into an album, so that is awesome! Me and Elder Kairo are thinking of going there for a pday sometime!
This week was great as far as missionary work! One experience I want to share. So, we were on the way to one of our investigators houses in Keene, and we were going down highway 67. We saw this person on the side of the road, and we had some extra time, so we pulled over. We walked up to the car, and it was an older lady, and she said that she got the car to start, but couldn't get it to keep going. So she asked to use our phone, she called her son, and then she asked if we could give her a ride to her house in Keene. The Spirit prompted us to give her the ride. We drove to Keene, and on the 10 minute drive, she talked about how she had been widowed, and its been hard for her to adjust to the responsibilities of both a wife and a husband. We talked to her about the plan if salvation, and eternal marriage, and we got her contact info. She kept giving me directions to her house, and it turns out the house was 2 doors down from the investigator we were going to visit! We asked if we could come by some time to have a lesson, and she didn't say no! Haha so it just shows the importance of following the Spirit. And it is weird because mission rules say we aren't supposed to give rides, but somehow we both just went through with it, and we both didn"t question it, whereas in most situations, we would have figured out another way. But the Spirit truly does guide you as a missionary.
Now to answer some questions. I am 160 now, which means I put on 10 pounds! The rice and chicken diet is doing me well! Actually surpisingly, I think it is the American junk food that has been giving me the weight, cuz when we were in Keene, we just did the pure Marshallese food, and I didn't gain a single pound, even when we had the big tins. I am still with Elder Kairo and we are living in Cleburne, but we are only working with the Keene branch. My Marshallese is going pretty well. I am pretty comfortable with it now, although there is always more to learn.
Well I think that is about it from this week, I love you all, and I will email you next week!
Love,
Elder Bryce
