Holy fetch, it's already been a week, this was one of my most jam packed
weeks ever! I walked into a baptism (which was done in Lake Superior, yes
it was as awesome as it sounds) and we had to do a ton of work to get ready
for it. On top of that we had a blitz from the Zone Leaders this week so
they could do the interview and also take care of trade offs. Lots of
teaching happened and lots and lots of driving.
So this is the largest area by FAR!! It's a solid hour plus to the bottom
of our area, which is like 50 some odd miles away, and probably like an hour
and a half to the furthest point possible. We drive a ton!! luckily all our
investigators minus one are in a 20 mile radius. We can't afford to go
further because we lose hundreds of miles when we have meetings. It's great
though, it's an awesome area!
My new companion is known by the name of Elder Morris. he has been out for
like 6.5 months and is known throughout the mission as the Canadian, for he
hails from British Columbia, Canada. We makes Canada/America jokes all the
time, it's great. He's such a cool guy though and a good worker!
We live south of the city a couple of miles.
The branch is relatively small, like 30 on a good day, but they are doing some really good reactivation work right now.
We have both car and bike, but we have the largest area in the mission so we mostly use the car.
It is wicked humid!!!! But feels awesome when the sun goes down.
Missionaries joke a lot about how the city is outer darkness because it is so blinking far from anything and it seems like a completely different country. It's said to be a tough area but it has improved dramatically in the last year. There are lots of people called Yoopers, a cross between ganders and canucks, it's different. It's also super touristy.
There is one set of missionaries for the whole UP portion of my mission. Then I have Cheboygan Elders and Petoskey sisters in the district.
Fun fact, I can see Canada practically from my apartment and the
International Bridge is huge and super cool and has red, white and blue
lights on the cool side(you can guess which that is.
