Week 12

Hello, hello everyone.

So, this week we picked up a new investigator who's name is James. He is a really good guy and he was a self referral. So that is really good. He is wanting to know more about what we believe. He has read the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price, as well as some of the discourses of prophets. So he has read a lot. But he seems some contradictions that we are going to try and clear up for him. After that, if we do clear them up, he said he is keen to be baptized and become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I also saw a kangaroo this last week, so that was cool to me. I also heard about President Thomas S. Monson passing away. He was a true prophet of God. And I know that he is now in a better place doing what God needs him to do. I know that we have a living prophet and through him we can come closer to God as we follow his counsel. He is God's mouthpiece on the earth today.

On Saturday a returning member started a martial arts course, and we are able to do it. So that is really cool to me. I am learning some self defense and I think that it will eventually come in handy. The returning member is Brother Wayne Hallows. He has got four different black belts and is now doing this martial arts course for free for anyone who wants to get their black belt in a year, so that is really cool. But yeah, that is him and his goal is to return to the temple.

It is really cool to see members returning to the church, right now we have four members who are returning. So it is really cool to watch them grow back into the church. Another returning member is Brother Allan Dredge. He is from New Zealand and wants to be fully active in the church and back at the temple by the end of this year. He says he has a strong desire to make things right with God again.

As far as the spiritual thoughts go for this week, I will condense them down to just a few rather than every day. Most of them are centered on Jesus Christ, and what he has done for each and every one of us. In John 15 Jesus Christ says "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you." Christ didn't lay down His life because He had to, but He chose to. He wanted to save each and every one of us. Not because He was obligated to do so, but because we, each of us, are His friends. Not only brothers and sisters, but friends.

As we strive to choose Christ in our lives, we are showing that we know where we want to go in life, and we are showing that Satan has no power in us. When we truly know who God is, Satan will loose every time. When we choose to follow Christ's example, Satan will not only loose, but will have no power to tempt us, and we will be able to overcome the power of the devil. Yes we will still have challenges, but we will realize why we have the challenges and see how we can improve from them.

Prayer is my next topic. When we pray, if we are sincere, we are literally acting as though we are Jesus Christ praying to our Heavenly Father. This is beyond importance because when we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our mind is the mind of Christ's mind. Our wishes are the wishes of Christ. His words abide in us. This is why it is important to pray sincerely. Also why some of our prayers may go unanswered, not only because we don't need the answer, but because people ask for things that their selfishness want, not for what God's will for them is.

That is all for this week. I will email again on Thursday next week because we are going to the temple again next week. Until then, make the most out of your life to come closer to God.
The three pictures are me next to a kangaroo, and pictures of two kangaroos, and a small panoramic of the view of the Swan River from Harrison Island.
