Hey guys!
Well, Monday has showed up again already and I'm here writing about how this week went. Well to start, we are beginning week 6 of this transfer and on Saturday we will be receiving transfer news. So that will be exciting.
This week, Eva was out of town so sadly, we didn't make any more progress with her. But we did have success with three young adults that we met at the beginning of the week. Their names are James, Foster, and Prince. James is a barber and the other two are his best friends and they're always just chilling at his shop haha. Anyways, we were able to meet with them three times this week and had a powerful lesson each time. They have a strong understanding of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We even asked them on our second visit what they had learned at the end of the lesson. One said "I learned that Joseph Smith is a true prophet." Another said "I learned that God still talks to man today." And the other said "I learned that the church of Jesus Christ is the only true church on the Earth." It was so awesome to hear, and they have even committed to coming to church this upcoming Sunday. We are very hopeful for these three:)
Something else we did this week was went on an exchange with our zone leaders. They work in an area called Yamoransa. Elder Dickson and I were with Elder Sagario from the Philippines for the day and Elder Ebong was with elder Bazolo from the Democratic Republic of the Congo for the day. During this exchange, I learned plenty of things, but I mainly strengthened my testimony on the power of prayer. In about the middle of our day, we had a few appointments fall through so we decided to do some finding. Elder Sagario said "let's say a prayer" while just standing on the side of the road. I was a bit surprised at first but then I said "I will support my companion's righteous actions". After the prayer was finished, we started moving in a direction the felt right and came to a place that Elder Sagario somehow recognized. It was a house for an old investigator of his that never really progressed. But we followed the spirit and knocked on the "door" of the house. A woman and her husband opened the door. We asked if they had some small time for us to share a message with them. They said yes, and came outside where we had the lesson while sitting on some rocks. We didn't fully know what to talk about, so we just started to talking to them about family and the importance of being united as "one flesh." Over the course of the discussion, the woman started to ask a lot of inspired questions that led to us telling them the beginning of the restoration. It was awesome to feel the spirit during that lesson. Overall, I looked back and realized that the whole lesson occurred because we had taken the time to stop and say a quick prayer to ask the Lord for help. Sometimes that's all the Lord is doing. He's just waiting for you to ask for his help. If you do, he will help you. As long as you ask with a sincere heart, the Lord will be there for you.
Once we returned to working in our area, we received a referral from one of our members. She's a 13 year old from a part member family named Joyce. Her mother is somehow a recent convert but not actually that recent. Joyce has been coming to church with her mom for some time but for some reason has not been taught the lessons or baptized. So, we met her, started to teach her, and will most likely baptize her this next Saturday.
Well overall things have been going very well here in Mankessim. I look forward to more awesome experiences to come. I love you all and hope for the best for you. But that's about it for now. Till next week.
