Having flash backs to my last area Shama
Hi guys,
Well this week has passed me by already and I have returned to the cafe. Well to start off, I wanted to mention the success of another investigator that we have. Her name is Eva. Supposedly she has been taught by quite a few missionaries in the past. We wanted to find out exactly what she knew already so we asked what she knew about Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, the commandments, etc. Well, we came to find out that she basically knew everything about lesson 1(the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ). But something she didn't know a lot about was the plan of salvation. Well, this week we helped her learn more about where she came from, what her purpose is here, and where she will go once she dies. She took it all to heart and knows the message is true. She is a bit stubborn about being baptized "again" though. So, as of right now, that's what we're working on. Emphasizing the importance of it being done by the proper priesthood authority, the correct way to perform baptism and things of that sort. But she has a baptismal date, and we have faith that she will progress and prepare for that date.
Something cool we did this week was we went on an exchange with our district leader and his comp over in an area called Salt Pond. Elder Dickson and I went with an elder named Elder Kpakpo from Ivory Coast. Meanwhile, Elder Ebong went with Elder Tonga from Tonga haha. We received nice training in the morning and then went out to proselyte. And while proselyting there, I was having flash backs to my last area Shama. The area seemed almost identical to me, it was crazy. Just the environment, the way things were set up and all. It was kinda cool honestly. While we were there we scored a nice free meal of some banku so that was cool. For those who don't know banku is a big ball of dough bade from a base of casava and corn. Then you dip it into a stew. Most commonly is a tomato based but this one was loaded with small little pieces of fried fish. Personally, i'm not a huge fan of banku, but this was probably the best one that I've had. It was nice. Oh yeah, in Salt Pond the local language isn't Fanti like everywhere else around here. It's a little community that speaks Eyowe(Ay-Way), so Elder Dickson and I were 100% lost. Luckily Elder Kpakpo has a background from the country Togo and they speak Eyowe there. So he did a lot of the teaching. Overall though, it was a great exchange and it was fun to get out of our area and see something new.
In our own area, it's been kinda crazy. Because of Elder Ebong being with us, we are now having to deal with 2 different areas and that's been fun trying to figure out when to go to what area. But we had a nice companionship study and have great hopes for what this upcoming week will bring.
Another funny thing that happened this week was that the ward here celebrated some big anniversary thing for primary and they really wanted us to come. So we came, and it literally ended up just being a "missionary singing time" haha. By that I mean, they invited us three up to the front for showing the kids what singing is supposed to sound like. We honestly didn't even sound good but for some reason, the leaders liked it.
Well that's what I got for this week everybody. I hope you all are doing well and continue to be good examples for the world!
