I'll be honest, I'm writing this week only to keep my streak of not missing a week- not much has happened this week, not for lack of trying!
House after house, text after text, call after call, nobody is answering! It seems all of our teaching pool is wisely fleeing the heat, of which it is very, very, very hot. Biggest heat wave in years and I'm in the hottest part of the country. 🔥👍🏻
Pahrump has a lot of houses with their own electronic gate, which is a terrible thing to come across as a missionary. There was a couple times we crossed through a neighboring yard or stepped over a fallen fence to get to a door, but for the most part people here lock up like Fort Knox. Which they don't answer anyways but that's just part of the issue I guess.
The worst part of nothing happening is it means I have no material for my emails! I mean, there's also the case of missionary work and all that stuff, but mainly my emails! That's what really counts here! (For not-getting-smited reasons that's a joke folks).
So here's just a couple highlights:
We helped brother mc leroy bale some hay on his farm, and afterwards I remarked how uncomfortable all the puffy scratches are from the hay. Elder Smith looks at it and says, looks like your allergic to hay because that doesn't happen to me. So I found out I'm allergic to hay! It's only on contact though, if I was wearing long sleeves I'd be fine, but still an interesting realization.
Coming back from the farm, I later noticed there was a nail stuck in my shoe- I was only a few inches away from having my foot skewered like a poorly trained fencer! The protection of the Lord is real.
It actually was a real life object lesson to me that Jesus literally had nails in his feet, and took my pain so I could be free from it, much like he protected me from having my foot stabbed by a nail. That made more sense in my head but you get what I'm saying.
We helped teach about Alma the younger at the primary's "Camp Nephi". We don't usually teach to below the age of accountability, so I had no idea what I was doing but neither did the kids lol. Let's be honest they were just waiting for the pizza and rootbeer at the end.
I gave yet another talk on Sunday. Each time I do it I use less and less preparation, because I've just done it enough I've learned the 2 easy steps to writing a talk:
- Prepare a written talk
- Follow the spirit and try to speak from memory of the preparation and trust the Holy ghost to take over.
Well that's about all I can write about not much happening!
Yip yip

About 2 inches away from probably going home early with an injured foot.

Chicken (how am I supposed to hold a chicken, nobody has told me yet and people keep handing me chickens to hold)
