I Eat Rocky Mountain Oysters 🐄🥜

Super fun week this week! Also, side note, I am now older than I used to be. Still getting bossed around by teenage missionaries, but hey, it is what it is. At least I'm old enough to buy alcohol. Few more years and I can rent a car!

We got special permission to go to the Clark County Fair down in Moapa Valley NV, about an hour away from Alamo. We helped out at the missionary booth there a bit, talked to a lot of folk, and went to see the animal show in support of Noma who was showing a goat. It was actually a pretty neat thing to watch, I was interested in how the judge chose one cow or goat over another, it wasnt the biggest or prettiest that won, but the one with the right muscles or fat in the right places.

While at the fair we met a ton of awesome people, enjoyed some funnel cake, it was a good time.

We had a couple funny things happen on my birthday- I got to pet 5 tiny adorable puppies at once, that was just the biggest dopamine boost I've had in 18 months.
We went to visit an investigator, but got intercepted by the religion conspiracy theory grandpa who held us karaoke captive for an hour. He asked if we liked music, we said yes (our second mistake- the first was talking to him in the first place) so he reeled us in to watch him solo karaoke full blast in his little casita. Kind of funny actually lol.

We had dinner with the Perkins, they made me my favorite cake ever- Peppermint cake, along with German Pancakes. It was the best! Then we looked up a message from the church to share from YouTube on their TV, and the auto suggest came up with something naughty because it had "temptation" in the title (temptation fades through the light of Christ) of the video, so I was super embarrassed.

We also had exchanges, I was with Elder King for the day, up in Hiko, and it was awesome. He is a farm boy from Idaho, so he loved all the fields and ranches up there. Met an awesome couple on a ranch who had their living room absolutely lined with taxidermy animal heads. Bighorn, elk, even a bobcat.

The other day we had dinner with another couple who owned a ranch, and the husband fed us "mystery meat", which my companion rightly guessed as Rocky Mountain Oysters. If you don't know what those are, I'll just say it rhymes with Tull Besticles. They were pretty good unless you thought about what you were eating. Very soft meat, kind of grainy.

We had 4 other elders over last night, since we all have to go into Vegas, and a member in our ward found out about that and asked if they could scare them. We were like, sure, why not, that sounds funny. We didn't know what they were going to do.

Well, they put on gorilla masks, and were banging on the doors, screaming, looking through the windows, etc. The other elders really freaked out, and immediately called 911. So me and e. Powell had to be like, no don't do that, we know them. So, this went on for like, almost 45 min. Maybe an hour. The other elders were a mix of kind if amused, genuinely scared, and absolutely furious. E. Lewis, who is part Scottish, pulled out his bagpipes and played "praise to the man" to ward them off. It was a fun night, at least for me lol.

Spiritual thought-

Make Your Bed. 🛏

I've already talked about this before, but I wanted to share it again. It's the best advice I've ever gotten, from my mission president.

Nothing is going to beat the comfort of a relationship with your heavenly father and Jesus Christ, but it really helps mentally to have a nicely made bed at the end of the day. Making your bed should be a scripture tbh.

This is the advice that's helped me stay happy on my mission, and generally be happier with life! I can't totally explain it, but I guarantee if you make your bed every day your life will be happier.

I really recommend the book "Make Your Bed", written by a Navy Seal commander. It goes into more detail about this and some other great life advice.

Love you all! Make Your Bed and change the world!
