I became a real cowboy 🤠... and nearly got trampled by a steer! 🐂
I know I've seen miracles on my mission, but this big one recently was pretty dramatic! But I'll save that for last for suspense and anticipation.
First off, we've had a great week teaching-wise! We've had multiple lessons nearly every day, and we found a new person to teach who will very likely get baptized! And we had two investigators come to church, one of them was literally in tears from feeling the spirit!
Which, I thought that would be the highlight of the week until Monday!
So, we were up at the members ranch out in Area 51, and while having lunch up there one of the ranch hands asked if we wanted to go check on their cattle traps with them. So of course, we said yes because it sounded awesome and it was.
We drove up a long road all the way up to Rachel NV, into Area 51 land. They actually had to call in on the radio so we didn't get pulled over and stopped by government vehicles. We saw several jets flying overhead, they were pretty loud. Some flew pretty low too. It was a long drive though, the roads were rough and it was a long ways. Nice views though!
So we get to the corral and pull up the animal trailer, it's kind of a beat up little fenced in area. There's a steer (a castrated male cattle), a few calves (young cattle), and some heifers (young female cows). We let the heifers go back to feed on the open range, and the calves were castrated and let go. Bro. Hughes cut off the testicles of one of the calves and threw them at e. Powell, it was hilarious. He said next time he'd cook some of the bull testicles up to eat, so we'll see how that goes.
So me and e. Powells job was to be in charge of the gate, he had the gate and I was in front of the trap (which unbeknownst to me was the weakest point of the corral, only a few rusty pipes). We each had a stick to poke off the steer, and were supposed to scare it into the trailer.
It didn't really work out that way.
As soon as the steer (full grown and PO as heck) got through the in-corral fence, he decided to charge me! I made a brave attempt to chase it off, but it found me as intimidating as a teddy bear- it made a charge at the fence, and bent the pipes, kicking through them and it hit my leg! At that point, I just booked it and ran. The steer got out sadly, making another charge and just blasting through the fence, but I was just grateful to be alive. Literally the scariest experience of my life!
Here's one of the coolest miracles I've ever experienced- I went to examine my leg that the steer kicked, and the pain went away surprisingly quickly. I lifted up my pants leg, and it was like nothing happened, not even a bruise, which was very suprising considering an adult steer hit it!
I 110% believe that God saved me from getting injured by that steer. I don't even know what to say about it other than it was incredible and awesome.
Some less exciting side notes, we got transfer news and me and my companion are both staying another 6 weeks. I'm happy to stay in Alamo, and e. Powell is awesome too so it's a good deal! I also gave a talk on Sunday about hearing invitations from Christ.
I used the analogy of when me and Dad were filling up a trailer of leaves and I kept thinking we couldn't fit any more in, and Dad always said we could fit a little bit more, until we had put all the leaves in the yard in the trailer. I compared it to how in the past whenever I thought that I had done enough spiritually, that my metaphorical trailer was full of leaves, Heavenly Father told me I could do a little bit more- and I could!
So yeah, crazy awesome week. Glad to be alive and kickin' in Alamo. I'm doing great hope ya'all are doing great too. Love ya.
Fist bump and a bro hug goodnight

Closest pic I could take to where we went in Area 51 because phones are a no-no out there.
