Some cool miracles happened this week!
One of the most spiritually impactful moments of my mission happened. Debbey, who is set to be baptized on Dec 8th, she hadn't chosen who would baptize her yet. On Sunday, I felt a strong prompting to bear a simple testimony. I got up before I had time to think of what to say, and I just testified that Jesus Christ is my redeemer, and that he lives. After the meeting, Debbey came up to me, and asked me to baptize her!! I was so honored. I'm very excited but also very nervous to do that haha. I've never physically been the one to baptize someone I've taught on my mission, so I'm really happy I have the chance to baptize Debbey.
We also helped a very recent converts and recent move in to the ward get settled in her new place. We just brought her a couch and bed donated by the ward, but it was cool to help her out. By coincidence (if anything God does could be called that, maybe divine inspiration?) She is just a few doors down from Debbey, and also from an active member in the Ward.
We found a new person to teach, named William! He has been through a tough time, and moved here from Alaska, and doesn't have any family or friends or anything. He told us about how God has guided his life, especially helping him to give up being an alcoholic. He used to work in construction, so he just started building a tree house for his landlord's kids just because he could. He's a super nice dude, and has already expressed interest in joining the church!
We also had a ward Christmas party for the Monte Cristo ward. It was awesome to see some of the less active members, like Jacklyn and Riley, and Joe, who we've been working with since I came to the area there! And Joe brought his non member friend Billy to church (after we stopped by and invited him "with witnesses" as Joe puts it)
I gave a training at our district council, where I shared all the fun object lessons I've learned from other missionaries to teach kids. The tie lesson, the cow lesson, the shark lesson, etc.
One of the APs who came to our DC made fun of my companion, so I was about ready to get all Ammon up in there and slice some arms off with holy retribution. But I didn't because Jesus wouldn't want me to. And also I don't have a sword because of mission rules. Sometimes missionaries can be jerks, which sucks, but mostly everyone's just trying to be more Christlike. Live and let die, I guess.
BTW, I finished D&C! So now in my quest to read all the standard works, I've only got the Bible left. The Bible is bigger than I thought haha. But something I've learned is that even when studying other scripture, I still need to read the Book of Mormon every day. There's something about daily BoM reading that just lightens the soul and enriches life. It's hard to explain.
Love you all, Merry Christmas and a happy new bag of freshly opened cheez its
