🧛🏻♂️Spooky season is upon us. 🧙🏻♂️
But you know what's not spooky? We have 2 baptisms coming up!! 🥳
We're having 2 baptisms coming up for people we've been teaching for a while, Kayden on the 28th and James on Nov 5th. James changed the date he wanted to be baptized 5 times in one day lol.
I absolutely love that they are getting baptized, but organizing is not my favorite haha. I wish we could do it like in the good ol' days, and just find a pond somewhere and dunk em'.
But I'm not complaining, it's actually really awesome! It's been a challenging yet spiritual week, as we've been "Bible bashed" a bit, had a lot of organizing baptisms to deal with, etc. But it's been super great to see our investigators progress towards baptism.
We did the book of Mormon stand again, it was fun but we got more bashers this time. Went on an exchange, I made my now famous...
ELDER ROGERS' MISSIONARY CHICKEN🐔:
-Thaw some chicken and cut into small chunks, combine in a bowl with some Kinders woodfired garlic and a touch of Monterey steak seasoning.
-Put some butter in a pan, put in the now seasoned chicken, then pour in some teryaki sauce with a dash of soy sauce.
-Cook until its cooked🌡. Then put it over some rice or potatoes.
So I was thinking (yes, dangerous, I know) this week about the purpose of life. It's something that missionaries often advertise having the answer to from the Book of Mormon, but Ive thought about what I personally believe it is.
I believe that the purpose of life is wherever we put our love.
God gave us two great commandments-
Love God.
Love thy neighbor.
When we put our love towards God, we show that love by following His commandments, which allows us to be partakers of eternal gifts.
When we love our neighbors, our fellow man, we share our life, and therefore our purpose, with others. Life was meant to be shared.
I believe that wherever you put your love, that then becomes the purpose of your life. So how important it is that we give our love to what lasts longest, to God, to family. I've realized this as I've dealt with worldly distractions, and realized it doesn't compare to the sustained joy felt from the Gospel.
