Companion

HONK 4 JESUS

So, finding people to teach isn't usually very fun. Lots of knocking doors, phone calls, texts, same old same old. But, me, my companion, and another companionship, tried to come up with some new ways of finding people to share our message with.

One thing we tried is we printed flyers with tear away phone numbers, asking if they wanted the answers to questions like what happens when we die, who is God, etc. That wasn't super effective but I got to make a flyer. If only I had Adobe illustrator lol.

But the other thing we tried was maybe the most fun I've ever had doing missionary work. For real.
We set up a table at the side of a busy street, with a sign saying "FREE BOOK OF MORMONS" and another saying "HONK 4 JESUS". We did this with the Elders we planned with, and it was a blast. So many people honked, and we passed out 14 Book of Mormons while people were stopped at the stop light! And every time people honked we'd cheer or wave or whatever. It was super fun.
We even had an undercover cop roll by, and instead of honking he flipped on his super loud sirens right next to us lol.
After passing out all but one of the Book of Mormons we brought, we ended up walking around the park that night. And there was only one other person at the park, but they accepted a book of Mormon! It was a good day.

So one of our investigators, it turns out he smokes so we had to push back his baptism, and he's still feeling too sick to come to church. So we asked him to commit to stop smoking, and so far he's doing really well! We call in every day to check that he's not smoking, and he says he feels better when he doesn't smoke.

We also helped a family move into the ward- I don't know how many times I've helped people move on the mission but it's a lot, I don't think I'd want to be a professional mover haha.

I've been confused for a long time why Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father can both be called Lord or God or Father, but in my studies I found where Abinadi answers that very question, in Mosiah 15: 1-9.

I won't quote the whole scripture, but it explains really well why Jesus Christ can be called the Father and the Son of God, and why Jesus and Heavenly Father together are "One God, yea, the very eternal father of heaven and earth", but they are still separate personages.

The question I had came back to mind, because Doron who we've met with had similar questions. And in my study of the scripture, like a day or two later, I came across that scripture. It's helped grow my testimony and trust that the Holy Ghost will help us find the answers, when we're searching for them.

-there's a cat named Mojo who belongs to the members whose Casita we live in, and he waits every night to greet us when we come home. He came inside the McMansion and chilled with us for a bit. He's the only cat I've ever liked.
