They are. I don't know how to title an email. I just make it up. Don't even know why it's such an enigma, but it is. The mysterious email-title formula. I'll figure it out one day. One day.
This week, we almost started teaching a homeless dude. We were tracting in the park, and this strangely charismatic homeless guy called us over. We started talking to him, and while it was clear he was drunk/high, he didn't seem dangerous or anything and it seemed like he just wanted someone to talk to. He told us some of his struggles, some miracles he's seen (like his friend buying him a beer. He had a low bar for miracles) and we tried to share the gospel with him. We made plans to meet him again the next day at the park, but he wasn't there. Only a tattered bike where he was. So we left a Book of Mormon with the bible, and hopefully he'll get the help he needs.
We had a weird service with some other Elders. The elderly lady we were helping was kind of... flirty? Towards us elders. It was super weird and pretty creepio but we helped her anyways. There's a lot of weirdness in this city, it doesn't have the nickname "sin city" for no reason.
Honestly, it's weird how I live in a city full of a lot of wicked and bad stuff, but it's also where I've felt the spirit as a missionary. Reminds me of when Jonah went to Nineveh haha.
I wonder if I tried to leave if a whale would emerge from the sands of Nevada and swallow me whole... probably. Better not risk it.
Teaching-wise, we haven't had a lot of success lately. It's pretty discouraging, but this might be a point where the Lord wants me to exercise greater faith. So I'm going to try and do that. Don't know how exactly, but I guess that's the whole point of faith- going forward when you don't know exactly what to do.
I actually came across a great example of faith in my personal studies- Captain Moroni. When Moroni does a pushup, he's actually pushing the earth down.
He also had incredible faith, and the will to act on it. When he had the lamanites pinned down after a vicious battle, and could have ended it there, he chose to let them go. Not only because of his desire to avoid bloodshed, but because of his faith that he knew the Lord would continue to protect those who are faithful to his commandments. That's the kind of faith I'm trying to aspire to.
Hope you all have a great week!
