Peace through Christ

Thank you to everyone who sent encouraging messages, it honestly meant the world to me! I wish I could respond individually every week, but P-Days are a time crunch (hence why this email is written beforehand) but I'm feelin' the love. Thank you.

But I've decided to create a mission mindset- I guess it's about time since I've been out for 8 months, but it's never too late to try something new! So I made up a new motto for the rest of my mission:

INSTEAD OF GIVING UP, GIVE MORE.

I think part of my feelings of not being a good enough missionary, comes from feeling like there'd always more I can give to the Lord. And while there definitely is, improving and being able to weather the world is based on having Christ as our foundation (Helaman 5:12). So instead of giving up, I'm going to try giving more, to try and be the person God wants me to be, and right now I think that comes from focusing even more on the impact Jesus Christ has on my life. So going forward, I want my emails to be more focused on spiritual and proselyting experiences.

On Wednesday I was on exchange with Elder Laurenc! He's an awesome missionary from San Antonio Texas, and helped me get out of my moody funk by encouraging me to focus on the work. He's a really good hype-man. We had a lesson with a great family, teaching the plan of salvation to four little kids where we showed them how to draw a diagram of the plan of salvation, which when drawn out spells through word "Love". They did have a gigantic dog though which shot out like a missile and nearly knocked me over. Being a missionary in Vegas has made me a lot more wary of pets, many of them would like nothing more than a missionary sandwich. Some are nicer though.

I also went on a blitz with Elder Troy's, which we did the blitz to try and find more people to teach in our two wards. One set went in one of our wards, the other vice versa. The other two elders had some great success, and me and Elder Tross had nobody answer or they had moved haha 🥲✌️. It's all good though, we had fun. Elder Troy's wants to work as a Lego designer one day, which I think is a pretty cool career goal.

We had a visit with this guy who was baptized 3 years ago, but hasn't been coming to church lately so we went to go visit him. He said he didn't feel worthy to come to church because he still drank and smoke sometimes, even though he knew it was wrong.
I felt prompted to read the first 8 verses of Enos 1 with him, and we had a great talk about the redeeming power of faith and repentance. It talks about how Enos' guilt was "swept away".
Having faith in Christ means to believe that he paid the price for our mistakes- so when we truly repent, but still hold on to feelings of shame or guilt, it's having a lack of trust in the Atonement of Jesus Christ. This is a lesson that he really needed to hear, and it was something I really needed to understand as well.

I love my Savior, Jesus Christ. And I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had this week to learn and experience the power of his Atonement. He is the power to change. Simply put, Jesus Christ is super cool. Like, the coolest ever.

I hope you all have a fantastic week!
Keep on keepin' on! And happy late Father's day! 💙
